A (quite) young movie lover said to me recently, "Not everybody can afford a DVD player," and I said "How much do you think a DVD player costs?"

He said, "I don't know, like $500?"

Those of us who advocate physical media are maybe not doing the best job of messaging.

Also, The Raid: Redemption, midnight screening ~2 years after release, long enough that word had gotten around without everyone having seen it. Involuntary vocal reactions to the sickest kills, the final 2-on-1 fight inspiring MORE gasps and shrieks as it went on, ending with spontaneous applause.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

Superbad. I was in college, me and some friends caught a screening opening weekend, only knowing that it was a comedy with the Knocked Up guys and the kid from Arrested Development. I don't think I've ever heard a theater lose its mind with laughter like that.

Acting in a James L. Brooks movie in the 21st century is like bargaining with Rumpelstiltskin about how much of your dignity you have to sacrifice.

This is 100% the correct (and obvious) move by Dems and they need to do it Every. Single. Time: counter Republicans strongarming companies/schools by openly and directly saying "we will be in charge in like a year and will absolutely make this cost you."

Or maybe the Financial Times is accusing private equity of fucking a pie. I just don't know about finance to make a judgement on this.

Someone else said it but it bears repeating:

"The Muppet Christmas Carol" is the best movie ever because Michael Caine treats the Muppets as fellow, human actors.

"Muppet Treasure Island" is the best movie ever because Tim Curry treats himself as a Muppet.

I just think it’s funny they told this reality TV bimbo he was secretary of transportation and his little pea brain immediately thought he was supposed to come up with travel advice
it’s pretty funny that Duffy is simultaneously

1. scolding passengers for not wearing fancy clothes while flying

2. supporting airport gyms so passengers can be sweaty and gross while flying

both of these proposals are idiotic but the direct contradiction is next level
Duffy on what he's doing to improve the airport experience for travelers: "Maybe I want a workout area where people might get some blood flowing doing some pull ups or step ups in the airport."
