Among the unexpected "Look Around You" tributes: the original XBox 360 welcome video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NQf...

It either came pre-installed or was on the welcome disc, can't remember which. I've no idea if any of the Look Around You team were involved, but I'd love to find out.

Comment: “Try explaining to someone in 2021 that this is a remix created in ~2007 of a song from a TV show from 2005 that's a parody of a show from the early 80s where there's a segment for people showing what they think music in 2000 sounds like”

"My mother told me to be quiet about what I did. She told me: "Let Rosa be the one. White people aren't going to bother Rosa. Her skin is lighter than yours and they like her."" - Claudette Colvin
RIP Claudette Colvin, one of several women arrested for not giving up their seats on buses before Rosa Parks

But Rosa was prettier, more light skinned, more respectable, and leaders in the Civil Rights Movement thought she would make a better "face" for the movement.

I'm lucky in that I'm underemployed right now, so I can just drop everything and go. On the other hand, I'm very, very broke, so extra expenses aren't great.

If you have any proofreading/editing work you need doing, please get in touch. Or any comms stuff - strategy, training, DEI, change.

If you make a website that is so glutted with ads and popups and other shit that it routinely crashes a phone browser the browser maker should be allowed to use a similar interstitial warning to the one it uses on non-https sites.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

Fun fact: Before the London Underground was built, wild tube trains burrowed freely beneath the city. The later Victorian engineering works are still impressive, but should be considered equivalent to the domestication of the horse — tracks and platforms being analogous to horseshoes and stables.

It's almost annoying how smart the idea is of taking over the Church of England. It's weak as fuck, but has institutional power and loads of assets. And what is the pushback really? Do loads of anti-racists atheists have to join to fight them off? Can they truly be arsed?

For those who keep hearing about how Disco Elysium is one of the greatest games ever made: it's free on Epic Games Store, INCLUDING THE MAC VERSION (which doesn't seem to be on Internet Archive unless I've missed something)

but only for the next 18 hours, SO GRAB IT

They know that if Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, were not there sniveling in the dark, the other one, the flute-player, could make no joyful music as the young riders line up in their beauty for the race in the sunlight of the first morning of summer.
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, lived happily ever after, playing the piano for his sister at the city concert hall, which is all she ever wanted.
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, still dreamed of cyberspace, hope fading nightly. All the speed he took, all the turns he'd taken and the corners he cut in Night City, and he'd still see the matrix in his dreams, bright lattices of logic unfolding across that colourless void...

Also, earlier today I was playing Minecraft with my daughter, who now has many massive secret lairs. she demanded I pick a pet for myself. I chose a chicken. She labeled it but missed the Z when typing and thus it was named:

Yo let’s chicken

i don’t know where we should use that name but i love it

And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die with two double bourbons inside him, sat in the final departure lounge of Miami Airport and thought about life and death.
The snow in the mountains was melting and Tiny Tim had NOT been dead for several weeks before we came to understand the gravity of our situation.
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

Heading to a Chabad lighting in Noe Valley later. I’ve known the rabbi for nearly twenty years, and they hosted a lovely event for my family’s celebration last Shabbat, and I’m trying not to think too much about the other thing.

Wishing a safe and happy Chanukah to all who celebrate. ❤️

Given all the babies who look like famous politicians (Nixon, Churchill, etc.) I would love a trend where babies play those people in movies

and I don’t care whether the other characters notice that the president seems to be a baby. either way is fine, let’s just get the baby in before we worry abo
