the 737 doesn't typically have the ability to dump fuel. it's presumably doing laps to reduce landing weight at the moment

"Edwards’ completed research was listed as mostly opinion columns" hahaha

Money-trail aside, Bryce just ain't a real academic. He doesn't seem capable of normal qual research, let alone have the methodological chops to deliver a 'Political Integrity Index'. Clearly, he just couldn't do the work.

Yes, um, "mysterious". The director of your integrity projects was an early and regular guest to The Platform, which was funded by the owners of a chain of early childhood centres to advance their political agenda.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Hello, are you in the hospital? OK you are using government. But did you do a poo in the hospital toilet? That’s pipes. Council. Did you get driven to the hospital on a road? Probably council unless it was a motorway straight to the hospital door. Are you in school? Fine that’s government. But did you use a pedestrian crossing to get to school? Council. Did you go on a bus? Again, council.

good video hands-on with meta's smart glasses. i've been skeptical on smart glasses for a while, but it looks like the hardware side of this is finally becoming feasible? plus, in a world where kids list "creator" as their dream job, POV video recording is v attractive youtu.be/5cVGKvl7Oek?...

"cbd" most likely gets a lot of airtime still simply because it's shorter and a lot easier to squeeze into a character-limited headline than "city centre"
zhuoyanakl.bsky.social
i think city centre is a more nuanced and therefore more accurate than cbd. but i don't think there's a rule that the news has to use the most proper name vs the most colloquial, e.g. "IRD" is technically incorrect as the "dept" was dropped eons ago

Just to be blunt, if you want Wired and 404 and The Verge to employ reporters who understand the memes on bullet casings and can connect them to gaming culture while having the legal and support resources to deal with waves of harassment when we do it… you have to subscribe and pay for the work

Until now I have resolutely stayed out of the Phillips' case because at one point several years ago I wrote so much about Family Court that it began to impact my mental health and possibly my fertility BUT today I wrote a backgrounder and I really want to point something out /1

looks like auckland council have put up their own version of policy.nz this year. usual problem with these kinds of tools is lack of candidate participation, but it's not looking too bad this one. quite useful!
