I think I would get sworn in on Studs Terkel’s Working.
if i were to ever have the privilege of being sworn in to an office, i would choose a copy of Black Reconstruction
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

“Young upstart of the US left” is so bad it has become good.
🇺🇸 Zohran Mamdani, the young upstart of the US left, was sworn in Thursday to take over as New York mayor for a term sure to see him cross swords with President Donald Trump.

I respect this swearing in because I also would immediately want to go see all the secret hidden stuff.
Zohran Mamdani was officially sworn in as mayor of New York City early on Thursday, just after the New Year’s Eve ball dropped in Times Square. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/31/n...

One small thing I've started doing to improve my life just a bit is diligently filing all my photos with friends in their own little album in my phone. Every time I look at them I am reminded of a nice time I had. SORRY THIS IS BASIC AND EARNEST BUT IT'S TRUE!!!

Worth watching 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' in any of its versions, as a reminder of what CBS has been.

Or 'The Insider,' about 60 Minutes in particular.

This is really, really bad.

How in hell does The Onion stay in business?

There’s room for somebody on the left to wrap themselves in the flag a little & make a point that the right’s rejection of America as a creedal nation—and their ad hoc, ahistorical effort to make it an ethnonationalist project instead—is distinctly *unamerican,* a rejection of the national project.
If immigrating from England makes you a "heritage American" then I guess I'm one too.
