If you ever claimed you want immigrants to do it the right way, this should outrage you. On the other hand, If you think this was okay, you need to come to terms with your white nationalist views.

True! And even trademarking them can be tricky. (And that's not counting claiming exclusivity to a series name that's a fairly common word, like "Dark" or "Cocky.")
Fun copyright fact: you cannot copyright titles! Which is why there are so damn many books using short quotes from Shakespeare as their names.

it is actually kind of bananas how unitary executive theorists have taken a straightforward clause requiring the president to "faithfully execute the laws" and transformed it into a grant for the exercise of limitless unenumerated power.
The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

God, Wishbone was one of the all-time funnest shows to watch, because the show itself was a pip, but then you get the additional fun of trying to predict what insane way they’re going to tackle a particular story beat, only for the show to look you dead in the eye and say “Yeah, we’re going there”

i'd say it did. the public put a group of thieves, vandals and extremists in office last november and they promptly went about destroying everything that might work to limit their ability to loot, steal and inflicting pain on the people they hate
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.

Congratulations to Mr Duncan and I hope he finally can get his records
a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

If the impending freeze of SNAP benefits is what has you particularly animated, these questions might help. You can really substitute any issue and ask the same questions of yourself.
4 grounding questions [if useful at this moment]:

1. What resources exist so I can better educate myself [about x issue]?
2. Who's already doing work around this injustice?
3. Do I have the capacity to offer concrete support & help to them?
4. How can I be constructive?
