Really highlights how stupid the BDS movement is. It’s been around for decades and hasn’t accomplished almost anything, and it never will, because everyone in it is a fucking moron. www.timesofisrael.com/bds-activist...

BDS activists said Peter Beinart — also pro-boycott and against Jewish statehood — was 'whitewashing genocide'; apology draws more flak; right-wing activist had pushed to cancel event

Advocating for collective punishment…lovely.

BTW I’ve heard this complaint mentioned repeatedly on far right podcasts and via far right influencers on social media.

Repeated increases in the real minimum wage in early-2000s Argentina – implemented amid moderate inflation and an economic recovery – did not lead to higher job destruction.

Firms were able to absorb higher costs without resorting to terminations.

Q: Do you plan to attend Sarah's funeral?

TRUMP: I haven't thought about it yet, but it's certainly something I can conceive of. I love West Virginia. You know, I won West Virginia by one of the biggest margins of any president anywhere.

Okay, here’s what I hate most about this chapter: the framing. “Isn’t this story of technological progress that I personally don’t like because I don’t like this technology stupid?” Also how out of date a lot of the info is.

Which means if you want to actually learn about AI, you’ll need to take something else because this is demented activism pretending to be scholarship. If you’re in the humanities and curious about AI and not just looking for new ways to complain about it, check out “digital humanities.”
This is not a computer science course.

It’s a humanities course about how to learn and work and thrive in an AI world.

Neither instructor nor students need a technical background. Our instructor guide provides a choice of activities for each lesson that will easily fill an hour-long class.

Lots of the hysteria about AI reminds me of the hysteria about genetically modified foods. It’s an idea that scares lots of people for mostly dumb reasons. I think in the case of GMOs it’s a lot more obvious because that stuff has been extensively studied already. AI hasn’t.
