The bit baffling administration fervor over senators suggesting that the military shouldn't follow illegal orders is making more sense now

This exact same shit was said about the Irish and Italians. *Exact* same shit.

And hell, the only thing that even came close to slowing down Manifest Destiny was the idea of bringing a bunch of brown Papists into the fold. The idea terrified and disgusted people.
Actually the US has an excellent track record of shattering norms of the Old World.

No king, no bishops or imams in government, no royal titles, separation of powers, equal protection, military under civilian control, a host of chains of authority broken forever.

Miller actually wants the whip.

Some dark shit if you click through to that article.

The admin is going to leverage this for stuff we haven't even considered yet.
Republicans want to drastically ramp up the admin's anti-immigration agenda after the D.C. shooting.

Said Rep. Mary Miller: "Deport them all. Now."

Even GOP centrists aren't fully dismissing Trump's crackdown on Afghan immigration applications. @axios.com www.axios.com/2025/11/27/r...
Republicans seek severe immigration crackdown over D.C. shooting: "Deport them all. Now."
"We must IMMEDIATELY BAN all ISLAM immigrants and DEPORT every single Islamist," said one Republican senator.

"President Trump said he is 'determined' that the shooter 'pays the steepest possible price.'"

his person will never have a trial in the US bc the admin won't want people to hear from him.

He'll be deported or more likely a new Guantanamo system will be set up.

Suspect in National Guard shooting served alongside U.S. troops in Afghanistan, relative says
The suspect came to the U.S. in September 2021, a relative told NBC News. He has been identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, according to four senior law enforcement sources.

You don't get to *say*, "on bended knee."

If you want to pray on bended knee, get on your effin' knee. Don't bullshit people, don't bullshit *God* with this false humility, false deference, false submissiveness.

If you won't do it, don't say it.
Hegseth’s reference to “this nation’s Christian faith” at the end is notable. America is NOT a Christian nation, just for the record. It’s a nation in which everyone is free to worship however they want.
Pete Hegseth says Trump has asked him to add 500 more National Guard troops to Washington D.C.

It's unclear why he seems to be smirking throughout much of this.

Remember when we used to just buy the extra food from farmers and use it to feed people?

Now we're replacing that with cash bailouts.

No savings for us. No food for the hungry. No pride of work for the farmers.

Just worse in every way for everyone.

No clearer story showing "boy friendly" actually means "hurting girls" than "Scouting should go back to how it was."

Because that was uh not super boy friendly.

Also our military needs women to serve!

Harming the US to hurt women bc that's most important.

I mean, literally yes? Like this was part of my Marine Corps boot camp training? And a bunch of stuff on moral courage? And I wasn't even an officer.

Broken record here but the administration has implicitly ACKNOWLEDGED giving illegal orders.

Judges have said, "The thing you did w' the military is illegal" multiple times.

And that resulted in the administration *senfing soldiers home* multiple times!

This isn't hypothetical.

It's a PATTERN.
Does JD Vance know how harmful, how shortsighted, how injurious this argument is? How it undercuts the most fundamental institutions and norms that make America?

I don’t know which would be worse. Knowing and lying anyway, or being so oblivious that he doesn’t.

Either he’s damned, or he’s lost.

The administration has ACKNOWLEDGED giving illegal orders.

Judges have said, "This thing you're doing w' the military is illegal" multiple times.

And the administration has SENT SOLDIERS HOME (multiple times!) because of that.

This isn't hypothetical.

It's not even just true.

It's a PATTERN.
The most fundamental question raised by this video is this: Is it reasonable to fear Trump actually is giving illegal orders, or is it not reasonable? I see almost *no* discussion of this question in coverage of the video, which is treating this largely as a dispute over optics. Why?
Oddly enough, in media coverage of Dems' video warning against carrying out illegal orders, there's very little discussion of *whether it's actually reasonable to fear Trump is giving illegal commands or not.*

The evidence is strong that he is. Media should say so:

I've been offline is this what felching is?
Feverish scenes in America as Axios is now amplifying a State Department official calling US Senator and Marco Rubio liars. Nothing this interesting EVER happens in Finland. Certainly not on Saturday nights.

Left unsaid here is that the agents weren't just talking photos, they were using their "facial recognition" app, and the false positive from that app contributed to the agents' pursuit of their egregious actions.
Rhode Island: “ICE agents then surrounded the judge’s car and demanded everyone to exit the vehicle, threatening to smash in the windows if they did not comply.”

Yes the impromptu dynamics of this we incredible.

But what gets me is the *staged* visuals were terrible for Trump. Who thought Mamdani should be looming over a seated Trump like a victor over a defeated enemy?

You genuinely have to wonder if his inner circle is intentionally undermining him.

Hi. I had a normal job in the Marines.

I was outside the wire a ton in Iraq but it wasn't that dangerous.

I also went to other places but they weren't dangerous at all and actually it was pretty awesome.

There are a lot of people like me.

Our perspectives matter too. It's not a badass contest.
Two things can both be silly/dumb at once:

• A former SEAL specifying that he was in D Co at Army jump school rather than A, B, or C Co like that’s a flex

• The idea of *GWOT* paratroopers being “used to being behind enemy lines”

The administration has SENT SOLDIERS HOME ***multiple times(!)*** because judges have said, "This thing you're doing with the military is illegal.

This isn't even hypothetical.

It's not just reality, it's a PATTERN.
The correct answer to MAGA outrage over the Dem video is this: Are you effing kidding me? Of course it's reasonable to warn that Trump might be giving illegal orders.

The evidence is strong that he actually is giving illegal orders! I went through that evidence here:

Is Trump Giving Illegal Orders? Dems Just Blew That Question Wide Open
From the boat bombings to deportations to prosecutions, the evidence mounts. And the speaker of the House could get to the bottom of it if he wanted to. Yeah, right.

@reckless.bsky.social A way to cover Linux on the desktop: As a parent.

Maybe 2026 ain't the year. Ok. But it does look like if I want my kids to be able to use computers AS COMPUTERS (not as consumers of products), it'll be with Linux or an equivalent.

So, how do I prepare myself to teach them?

Just to be clear on what happened today:

The US Coast Guard changed rules to be more tolerant of personal displays of swastikas and nooses.

But it didn't get much coverage because...

The President threatened to hang legislators who told service members to not break the law.

Coincidentally I'm sure, Bessent is both the most effective leaker in the admin, and the person in the admin who hates Pulte the most.
In just a few hours stories on this have dropped in at least four different outlets — MSNOW, CNN, NBC, and ABC. Someone really wants this story out.
ABC's story about the investigation of Eagle Ed and Bill Pulte's outside investigators is quite extensive.
