The human cost of Trump's gutting of USAID: By the time Tor Top’s mother was sick with cholera, the nearby clinic had been shuttered for weeks. He bundled her into a canoe & paddled toward the nearest hospital, 8 hours away. Less than halfway into the journey, his mother died.

If they succeeded, what would America look like?

The Trumpists desire to drastically narrow the boundaries of who gets to belong and purge millions from the “homeland.” Those who are left would be living in a society that is not only unequal but has ostracized egalitarian aspirations as heresy.

ICE has taken Chinese dissident Guan Heng into custody and is threatening to return him to China.

Guan Heng risked his life to film the Uyghur concentration camps—the same camps Secretary of State Rubio opposed when he sponsored the “Uyghur Force Labor Prevention Act” as a US senator.
In late 2020 a Chinese man called Guan Heng travelled to Xinjiang with our BuzzFeed map of detention facilities to provide ground truth for our work - he provided the first corroborating evidence for many sites.

He escaped to the US - then ICE detained him.

$340 million could fund universal school lunches for ~ 300,000 students. For an entire year.

Or build ~ 1,700 PSH units for unhoused people.

Or build between 75-150 Federally Qualified Health Centers.

Or renovate/build 20-30 libraries.

Or fund 10 YEARS of universal pre-K in a mid-size city.
