Our current political conundrum is the result of years of inaction and prevention of consequences for bad actors, as well as a maintaining of the status quo that challenges and questions nothing in order to maintain the illusion of line go up and constant profits. This must change with courage.

I always thought Plato was pretty pollyannaish on this point, but this is decent evidence for the view that a man of bad character will therefore be unhappy even with every external trapping of success and good fortune.
