I don't have an actual formal bucket list but I have wanted to stay at a specific hotel since the late 1990s (or as the youths call it, the late 1900s) and I just booked a long weekend there in January 🎉🎉🎉

(Very thankful for the event block rate that made this possible)

As we are now T minus 3.5 days from Thanksgiving, if you need to deploy Operation Avoid The Boundary Tramplers, tonight is when you post where they snoop about a headache or a queasy kid, or a funny noise from your car, or your pet acting strange, or a serious work issue or an unexpected paper.

local soup kitchen is doing a raffle but is only taking payments from two apps i don't have. signed up for the less awful of the two and my account was immediately suspended for suspicious activity until i send ID, so now i have an account i don't want AND can't use

SO for reasons

I'm canvassing for some book comp titles for a project I'm working on which contains:
* high fantasy princess-in-a-tower m/f romance; distinct from other princess-in-a-tower stuff I have already written
* overt spicy on-page "yes-mistress" femdom

is there anything similar out there?

Oh, this is really cool, especially for larger conferences! (Would be great if everywhere had this setup, obvs, plus the needed filtration, etc)

omg this is SO COOL i gasped when i saw it
I also made this brioche cowl that sort of looks like menorahs but subtly and also it's reversible (I considered duplicate stitching an actual menorah on there but decided it was too on the nose)

Literally sat three separate coworkers down last week to keep them company for open enrollment! Body doubling works!!!
This is...sort of brilliant.

There were a couple of cats in our front yard earlier, so while that's not Sasha's territory and they didn't seem to be exploring in that direction, I'm not letting her back out right now.

She is VERY good at crying loudly and saying something that sounds very much like OUT.

Uh-huh, work person I talked to earlier, the economy will have recovered by the spring, yup, sure

Not sure I can remember holiday shopping "advice" other than buy all the things 🙃
Fox guest on how to save money during the holidays:

"Remember, adults don't need gifts. Focus on the people in your life who are aged 3 to 18. Grandma doesn't need slippers. If they don't live by you, don't get them a gift."

That's any doubts about my writing skill cleared up; time to make good on some of the plot bunnies in my head, because they'll all be better than ... whatever this Nuzzi nonsense is.
November 17, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Trying to decide how I feel about some work goings-on; part of the lack of clarity is that how I feel is highly dependent on the eventual outcome, which I won't know for ~6 mos.

(It's fine for now, but if there's not a change by summer it may be job hunt time, which I try VERY HARD to avoid.)

SO EXCITED 🎉🎉🎉
I’ve written another romcom! It’s about two scriptwriters who can’t stop arguing but have to work together to save a TV show. Also there is kissing. I loved writing it and you can pre-order it here! linktr.ee/LoveSceneAnn...

Totally bizarre but good thing that's happened lately is that someone who was massively frustrating to work with (constantly arguing about everything I said) has become great to work with because he realized that not getting along with me would hold him back professionally

Today is publication day for MANGA'S FIRST CENTURY in North America! It's available at bookstores large and small. ahorbinski.com/books/

If you've already read the book, please consider leaving a review online! It helps. And if your budget is tight, requesting the book at the library is great too!

Very well: 5 UK/IE Kindle copies of @aptshadow.bsky.social's *excellent* (fairly-)hard SF novek, Children of Time. I love it. You *must* have an amazon.co.uk Kindle account to claim one!

I don't do UK/IE giveaways as much, but this book is *so* good.
Notice that @aptshadow.bsky.social ’s Children of Time is 99p on kindle in the UK. If you have any interest in SF and haven’t read it, this is a no-brainer.

I loathe that companies have degraded search so much. If I am searching for a large sealable glass container that will hold a pot of soup I do not need sets of small containers, and suggesting them just means I don't buy anything (even though I do also need some smaller containers)

Hands up if you've never used Chat GPT ✋

(I feel like Dozer and Tank in The Matrix right now - at first I didn't use it because, rather ironically, I'm lazy and stubborn (peak Taurus energy there) - literally no, don't make me use the new thing I don't wanna. Now I'm glad I didn't 😅)
Probably a good way to tell right now if the job you’re applying for is run by absolute dumbfucks is to ask if they’re using AI.

hey #UglyDogs I seem to have developed another CSF leak that's going to put me on bed rest for indefinite time. I would very much appreciate any shares/help you can give, because I don't know what this will do to my job hunt.

Someone just used the word gangbanging in a work chat and the thing my face did was worse than when I read yesterday's riddle, which was "you step on me all day but I never complain"

NC would be a LOT worse off if we didn't have an unbroken line of Democratic AGs going back 50 years
Your state attorney general is probably one of THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT elections you have on your ballot, and most people simply do not understand that who you elect will directly determine your rights—and has in the past.
