![In the office, we adopted a cat and named him Connor. He's officially employed by the company to hunt mice and provide emotional support to the staff. We even provide him with a salary that we use to buy him food and toys.
But last month, we hired a new guy, also named Connor. And to avoid confusion, we started calling him "Human Connor." Human Connor then suggested we rename the cat "Cat Connor" and let him be just Connor
But, of course, that was ridiculous. Connor was here first and, by seniority, he outranks him in the company's hierarchy. So no, he remains "Human Connor."

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

People are in despair out there because whether it’s the healthcare or the guns or the housing crisis or the grocery costs every single American asks themselves at least once a week how they are supposed to survive this country. And the answer is always that they aren’t.
