The poor have been systematically starved, social safety nets erased, rents/prices have skyrocketed, & jobs are gone since the pandemic. It’s absolutely no excuse, but this is how a huge pool of desperate morons was created for recruitment.

2025 was by far the strongest year ever for novels by trans writers from major publishers -- and that's before you get down to smaller presses and self-published stuff, which were also cooking. God, I hope it sustains in 2026 and beyond. A lot of these books sold well! The audience is there!

Does anyone care about Owen Grady from Jurassic World? How about Gary Grooberson from the Ghostbusters reboot? Are there a lot of references to the live action disney remakes? Sometimes movies make a lot of money without you hearing about them! It's not a mystery that needs to be solved!
And yet it’s kinda true, because the characters and writing are so deadly dull. Does anyone care about “Jake Sully” like they do Luke Skywalker or Tony Stark, or remember who plays him? Are there any quotable lines? Do people anticipate what will happen next? It’s the invisible ink of franchises.

I'm sure the movies are good and that seeing people be snarky about them as if they're jurassic world or ghostbusters is annoying but I also don't think the most finanacially successful filmmaker ever needs me to take his movies seriously
i don’t think everyone needs to like every film but the way people refuse to even take the avatar series seriously in any capacity feels so performative in a way no other series has ever been treated, very odd to me
