In 2023 it took me 5 months and 53 applications to land my role as technical producer at Sanzaru after being laid off by Microsoft.

In 2025, it took 111+ applications and 7 months from when I was laid off by Meta. 30 no replies, 84 rejections, 1 offer.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

Someone asked for details about what a good Producer does to be good, so I took a stab at it.

Caveat: I am NOT a Producer! This is my perspective as a lead and IC. I encourage Producers to add anything I've left out.

Also, I acknowledge I'm setting a high bar here. Nobody can be everything.
