ZOOIDS
Siphonophores are champions of community collaboration. 🤝🏆
This isn't one animal. It's actually a colony of individual animals called zooids. Each has a specialized role. From the orb-like swimming nectophores to the bright orange stinging tentacles, they're essential to the survival of all.

My 7yo daughter and I, both home sick, watched "The Empire Strikes Back" today. (She recently saw "A New Hope," her first Star Wars movie.) It was such a blast. Her favorite part was Luke getting his hand sabered off.

Spotify is garbage on every count: Its treatment of artists, its ICE advertising, the CEO's investment in military AI, its leading role in the commodification and AI slopification of music, its terrible audio quality—you name it.

So I quit, and put together a complete guide to getting off Spotify:

I took a fall on a customer's front steps at work last night and wound up in the ER for stitches on my arm. A good reminder to take care on stairs, especially in this wet and slippery season!

Read it and weep. And laugh. But mostly weep.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

Anybody else get real upset about the forced obsolescence of modern tech like wireless earbuds, which are expensive, virtually impossible to repair, and use resources that hurt the planet during extraction and again when the product winds up in a landfill? Or am I having an old man/cloud moment?

It's that time of year when I get too intense about deciding my top albums of the preceding 11 months. I've got a working list in my notes app that includes all my contenders. Totally normal behavior for somebody not even close to in the music industry.

It's not just "consumer smart" it reduces environmental waste, key materials are often mined in slave conditions. The whole tenor of the article is wrong - why is the economy so dependent on us engaging in mass waste?
