Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

it seems too obvious to even keep pointing it out but if you have ever had experience with an elder relative sliding into dementia you are familiar with the ways they repeat the same nonsensical anecdotes
Trump: "They didn't allow the water to come down from the Pacific Northwest. They routed the water into the Pacific Ocean. So we had no water there. No, he had -- I would say open up the water. Open it up to the governor, the mayor. They wouldn't do it. They wanted to protect a tiny little fish."

From Blaine: "Grandparents were about to go outside for a walk. They came into our home ... My brother asked for a warrant. They showed a “warrant”, it was on a phone. He asked to see if it was signed by a judge they ignored him. They then only took my father and shoved him in the car and drove off"

I’ve seen lots of requests about where to send money. Please do not send me money, I have a job and can afford this. But I’ve seen many heroic observers for whom I suspect small amounts of support would be welcome and helpful, so if anyone has ideas on how to safely assist them, I’ll share it.
Is there a fund to cover gas money, food for folks like Will tracking ICE?

Also, what do we call them?
The ICE guy I was tailing decided to show me he knows where I live. You can’t really see in the video, but as he drove past my place he reached out the window and pointed at my apartment. Real tough guy

i've been reading about stalin. when the great terror hit it was everywhere, all at once, against everyone--every city, every town, every remote fucking village. stephen miller can't even subjugate one mid-sized city.

their power depends on us believing they have power.

resist.
Also, please note: they tried very hard to be scary, kept saying “this is where you live, go home” over the loudspeaker. But when you continue to follow them, they don’t arrest you, they run. Their tactics are based in fear and bullying, not any true legal authority.
Here’s a really tense ICE situation in front of my home. One car looped a block 25 times until two reinforcement cars showed up and led me home. Was pretty scary because I was solo - BUT I knew I had backup from thousands of courageous neighbors and observers. Strength in numbers.

There are anti-ICE signs on every business, every streetlight, every blank wall, in half the windows. Everyone is wearing anti-ICE clothing. No one talks about anything else, at the bus stop, at work, at the bars and restaurants, at the store.

Total unity around one idea: ICE OUT NOW

Impossible to describe what a raw nerve the rapid response channels are when you’re NOT on patrol. ICE sighted everywhere, all over the neighborhood. Silence and then swarming.

This is not an immigration agency, it is not a law-enforcement agency. It is a state-sponsored terror agency.

Exploiting a quote opportunity here. Gracias Will.

Today I went to meet with an affected family in Phillips. My brain is mush from listening to and speaking Spanish for 2 hours. It’s so bad y’all. There’s an ice here and an ice there everywhere. They are stuck at home, business shuttered.

The number of observers on the ground here is basically increasing geometrically, because people see some of their neighbors being abducted and others fighting back and there is zero question about who is on the right side
Just tried to find a legal observer training and they are ALL full.

presidents must balance that duty with their partisan political agendas, there are times when they must sacrifice those agendas to that duty. what's more, if the presidency has a caretaker role, then congressional limits on removal work to help enhance that caretaker role.

one of the political theoretical issues with the unitary executive, as i see it, is that it rethinks the presidency as an institution for the pursuit of a partisan political agenda, rather than as an office that imposes a duty — caretaker of the constitution.

this from @juliaazari.bsky.social is great and has me thinking — as circumstances often do these days — about something that has been lost in the age of trump, which is the presidency as steward of the constitution.
Does the American presidency exist anymore?
Last week Donald Trump flipped off a worker at a Ford plant for yelling “pedophile protector” at him.
