the biggest problem for democrats trying to win the senate isn't progressives running in purple seats, it's the reduction of political conflict onto a single nationalized party axis. the erasure of regional differences in the party brand is uniquely bad for a party w concentrated urban membership
I jump into the moderation debate. I agree with @adambonica.bsky.social and @gelliottmorris.com on the methodology, but I want to draw attention to a bigger issue. The collapse of candidate effects generally.

I don’t know if it’s actually worthwhile to engage at all with pure slop, but almost none of the things mentioned in this video are any different now than back then other than the intended audience no longer being a child.

Breaking: The Commanders and WR Terry McLaurin reached an agreement today on a three-year contract extension that will end his hold-in and get him in uniform for the regular-season opener vs. the Giants, sources told Adam Schefter.

The extension is worth up to $96 million, his agents said.

My baby-splitting take is that anti corruption politics, unspecified is going to be popular and specifics need to be planned but not necessarily announced.
100% disagree that it'll be normie-scaring. literally nothing the dem nominee will do or say in 2029 will be normie-scaring
court reform gotta happen but it's a difficult thing to run on, it's normie-scaring. so you basically need politicians willing to imply one thing and then do another in office.

Musk sort of ended the ‘should billionaires exist?’ debate for me imo, the tail risk of someone with that much unaccountable power going nuts is clearly too great.

“We’re the good guys,” I tell myself as a 6-year-old leukemia patient pees his pants in fear. I adjust my black mask and sunglasses in the mirror, making sure to hide my identity. “I am not evil,” I whisper.
Monstrous:

"They were crying in fear. One of the agents at one point lifted up his shirt, which displayed the gun that he was carrying....The 6-year-old boy was terrified to see the gun. He urinated on himself and wet all his clothing. No one offered him a change of clothing for many hours."

It’s eternally the 2016 primaries. I’d recommend reading the actual book before commenting on it.
I remember one time @davidjroth.bsky.social told me he suspected Ezra Klein was a "shoulda hooped instead of blogging, because he tall as hell" guy. I'm not sure how good an on ball defender he is, but I wrote about the usefulness of Klein's penitence as politics for @dennycarter.bsky.social.

The only reason why this strategy is being framed as a joke is because hyper-online leftists prioritize labels and in-group signaling above actually doing something to shift the Overton window.

A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred.

The most disappointing aspect of Trump 2.0 is how every institution has rolled over in the face of obvious law breaking because Trump won the popular vote by a smaller amount than Hilary Clinton did. Columbia continues to kneel and Trump still punishes them.
SCOOP—Emails obtained by @zeteo.com show Mahmoud Khalil reached out for help from the Columbia administration *one day before* ICE detained him.

He said he couldn't sleep from threats he was receiving.
He even wrote that he feared ICE "might come to my home."
SCOOP: Emails Show Mahmoud Khalil Asked Columbia for Protection a Day Before He Was Detained
"I haven’t been able to sleep, fearing that ICE or a dangerous individual might come to my home. I urge you to intervene and provide the necessary protections to prevent further harm."
