More than 7000 flamingos were spotted today, added to many other bird species. Not in a very remote place, but in Doñana! A wonderful visit to Veta la Palma that really made me feel very happy and fortunate with this work.

A fleeting collaboration between water and light, a single raindrop transformed into a liquid prism, refracting the world into golden halos and scattered magenta flares. These are the moments that happen once and vanish: unpredictable intersections of weather, optics, and timing that can’t be staged or repeated. Usually I’d discard images this optically chaotic, but there’s something honest about embracing the disruption, letting the droplet reveal light’s behavior rather than fighting against it. Sometimes the technical “mistakes” capture more truth about seeing than perfectly controlled images ever could.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

A path through the woods. For once I stuck to the trail as the forest was waterlogged. Well, for a short stretch anyhow, then I went back into the woods and tread carefully. 🙂

A hiking path through an Irish pine forest. The path is well paved with small boulders here and there. In the distance the forest opens up onto the mountain so with a little sun and fog the distant path is bathed in a yellow glow. The tips of the trees in the distance (where the forest ends) also appear to glow compared to the nearest leafless trees which are much darker being surrounded by a thick forest.
