I love that Mamdani is what the right claimed Obama was: A Muslim socialist born in Africa. The right practically manifested Mamdani into existence.

Lomborg's (~clever) schtick has always been to prioritize actions that sound good, but drop profit-threatening actions to end of list so they won't get done.

Curiously, Gates also does fund Fervo (enhanced geothermal, good!).

57% of all ad spending by Republicans in the Virginia governors race was on anti trans ads. Just an incredibly mismanaged campaign. Anti-trans politics are a losing issue.

Dick Cheney was a cruel bureaucrat who made corrupt institutions more abusive. Officials in those institutions then surrendered what was left of their morals to accommodate his evil vision. In time, those institutions became even more corrupt. What politicians say today will be revealing of the rot.

It's also why all of those smug european countries are pulling back on their welfare programs. They were happy to have them when they were relatively homogenous but now that they're afraid of immigrants having them - esp POC - they're scaling back
"Why don't people support welfare programs?"

Racism. More specifically, anti-Blackness.

White folks asked about who welfare serves overestimate the number of Black people on welfare. Not only that, but just the mere THOUGHT of who welfare supports led less white people to support it. #blacksky

fun fact: the only reason Scott Adams is alive today is that he canceled his assisted suicide because hormone therapy to block testosterone gave him significant symptom relief

the exact same therapy that’s called “puberty blockers” when given to trans youth

trans healthcare saved his life

this is why i think the power of point access blocks is even greater at scale...

not only do you house nearly same number of people - you do it in like 60% of the footprint

meaning construction costs go way down.
more privacy. more space for trees. more daylight. homes that cross ventilate.
here's version w/ (4) 6 story 'el'-shaped PABs

300 homes

half of them are 2-4 bedrooms (status quo development in seattle right now has that number at <6%)

max FAR: 2.8 (less than half what would normally see on a 6 story site)

lot coverage: 47%

look at how massive those courtyards are: 🌳🌳🌳🌳
