Shock. Could anyone with half-functioning brain (or experience with AI/LLM’s) have foreseen this? I am so glad I am now retired from the tech industry, because all the senior execs I dealt with were very very gung-ho about the efficiencies (read layoffs) they could achieve.

Dave nails it. My view: there are so many lenses to view the response to this tragedy. The overwhelming majority of Australians want action with empathy. One lobby group and the conservative side of politics are laser-focused on division and controlling our right to express that empathy publicly.
