Ms. Rachel is a kind & humane teacher whose offense is speaking up against killing children in Gaza. Cynthia Nixon has Jewish kids, and has never said or done one antisemitic thing.

This is not just gross & offensive – it trivializes real antisemitism. 🧵

Attacking pre-school teachers because they don’t think Palestinian kids should be bombed to death? Declaring NYC’s first Muslim mayor “our enemy?” Fomenting hatred, even within the Jewish community?

You’re not making anyone safer.🧵

Trump calling Somalis "garbage" en route to a literal militarized purge of the community is a real litmus test for Democratic party politicians. Imagine being so worthless that they can't find time even to speak up about it.

"Trump called Somalis 'garbage' but we can't be seen taking the same side as Ilhan Omar, so we'll let a couple of twin city mayors be the only people talking back to the fascist president describing his desire to do a purge" --Democratic leadership, apparently

What does it say about this country that that the kind of open, rank bigotry Trump administration officials regularly express towards black immigrants apparently has no social cost because of the number of Americans who quietly agree or don't care.

My final(?) bit of writing for the year and in an interesting twist of fate it's at Kotaku! I reviewed Octopath Traveler 0.

I truly loved this game and it gave me a great deal to this about re: earnest story-telling and giving oneself permission *to love* something.

She has the moral clarity that a lot of elected Dems could use: what is happening today is evil.

You don’t need to analyze it much more closely than that
Sabrina Carpenter slams the White House for using her song ‘Juno’ for a pro-ICE video:

“this video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”

It's really a shame that musk managed to convince everyone (or at least me) that self driving cars are unbelievably dangerous and inherently unsafe. I hope that Michael is right and that we (or at least I) can let go of the preconceived notions musk created, because this looks incredible.
good piece on Waymo's self driving cars

we can reasonably begin to look at self driving as a potential public health breakthrough, Waymo cars are much better and safer drivers than people

the problem is the economics of the technology not the technology itself

prison is the moderate position
If a man personally implicated in war crimes can remain atop the Pentagon, why would he stand by and risk his freedom should Vance (or Trump again) lose the 2028 election?

And unless Bradley sees the inside of a brig, the message to USSOCOM's chain of command is that no action is impermissible.

you can now get trans people fired from academia by just turning in unambiguously garbage work for them to grade, getting a bad grade, and then having the conservative propaganda apparatus take it from there
Here's what this is actually about, dumbass

The instructors gave clear, thoughtful, detailed, and professional feedback on the paper, even though the paper's author called their trans peers and instructors "demonic." The student was given a bad grade, not silenced. Unbelievably poor analysis from Kreis, who should know better.
