The story was always already about an impoverished unmarried couple facing a pitiless bureaucracy, having a baby in a barn, and then having to hide from a tyrant. The baby grew up to say that the poor were blessed and the neighbor is he who shows mercy. You can’t hide from the politics of all that.

This year, statues of tall men clad in all black with masks drawn up to hide their faces are disrupting the serenity of a Charlotte church's Nativity scene.

The figures are depicted approaching the Holy Family and the Wise Men with handcuffs as if preparing to make an arrest.

this is very good and important to see
To all the young people in New York and across our country who count on gender-affirming care:

I won't let this administration come for you, your doctors, or your lifesaving health care.

Your health care is still legal and protected.

I'll always fight for you.

re: the ACA and doing away with pre-existing conditions: in college, when I was first prescribed antidepressants, this was my first thought. if I take these, I'll never be able to get health insurance again. that seems like such a foreign thought now, but it could be back.
One time I was having coffee w/ a group of friends, and we discovered that every person at the table had been denied health insurance in the 1990s for having taken anti-depressants, except for one who'd been denied for having discussed them w/ her doctor, though she didn't get a prescription.

If you make a billion dollars — or $500 million or even $100 million dollars — and you keep trying to make more, then there is something seriously wrong with you. It's a mental illness akin to hoarding or drug addiction.

We are God's Plan to change the world. Created in the image of the Creator, discipled and commissioned by embodied human God-With-Us, and empowered by the Spirit within us. We are the miracle. There's no swooping. Just loving God, ourselves, each other, and Creation with all we are, day by day.
Literal eschatology—the expectation that an outside power will one day swoop in and "set everything right"—is a recipe for tragically unconstructive discontentment. It discourages both working to change present circumstances and looking for happiness in the present.

today’s affirmation: I am within the acceptable range of deviation. I am a perfectly roasted quail. if I was a car the mechanics would find nothing weird or rodent related in my air filter. I am upright. There are no stones or excess debris in my shoes. I still have all my bones.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Whatever it is-- breathe into it. Not w/ a gasp or a gulp; w/ a smooth, even draw, in, out. Easy does it, no pressure, no rush.

Breathing won't solve all our problems-- but it's inextricably entwined w/ the specific problem of somatic dysregulaton. Frame breathwork as one tool.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have revealed a synthetic glycosystem -a sugar-coated polymer nanoparticle- that can BLOCK SARS-CoV-2 from infecting human cells, REDUCING infection rates by NEARLY 99%. Acting as a decoy, the molecule BINDS to the spike protein, PREVENTING it from attaching to real cells.
