If the right accuse the left of something (terrorist sympathising, communism, antisemitism etc) the media will ask the left to defend themselves from that charge.

If the left accuse the right of something (racism, fascism, colonialism), the media will ask the left to justify that charge.

This is a party with virtually the same number of MPs as Reform (4 v. 5).

The way the BBC is treating Reform, compared to the Lib Dems and the Greens, is a dereliction of their duty as a public broadcaster.

BBC accused of 'extraordinary' anti-Green bias after party say the Laura Kuenssberg Show scrapped a promised interview with @zackpolanski.bsky.social on Sunday.

Green sources say the show also refused to interview Polanski after he was elected as leader last month

I know Greta Thunberg said the story isn't about her.

But it's really important she speaks out and tells exactly what abuse she received.

When the world sees what Israel is capable of doing to her, they will know the horrors they inflict on Palestinians are all true.

This rather hard hitting video of a police officer being questioned about his role in arresting peaceful protesters and watching it land is well worth a view.

It's time to take it back.

Greta Thunberg has just been released and she is back on the warpath, exactly like our leaders should be.

Israel will never silence her or the billions who oppose them.

The Greens requested an interview on the Laura Kuenssberg Show with Zack Polanski when he was elected leader, but were denied, with a promise to interview him during Green conference instead.

This was then scrapped citing the Manchester synagogue attack. Polanski is both Jewish and from Manchester

Italian journalist abducted from the flotilla describes how Israeli prison guards unleashed dogs into cells, poured bleach on mattresses, and overcrowded cells
such that it was impossible to lie down.

x.com/paolomossett...
That night the guards were even more violent. The consul had just left, having gathered more deportation signatures, when special forces burst in. They stormed the cells, pointed rifles at us with laser sights, and called roll. In some cells, they unleashed dogs. In one, they found the word “Palestine” spelled out using scraps of pepper and water. To erase it, they poured bleach on the floor — prisoners slept on mattresses soaked with it.

That night, as punishment, they overcrowded the cells: from ten people to fifteen, leaving no space to lie down. We turned the mattresses sideways so we could all rest our heads. In my cell were Maso Notarianni and a Lombardy Democratic Party councilor, Paolo Romano.

I had the feeling I was in a truly barbaric place, and hoped this barbarity would soon end.

I'm very concerned about all the #GlobalSumudFlotilla detainees, but especially Hannah Schafer, who seems likely to be held in extended detention in Israel. Israeli armed forces have committed grave and multiple breaches of international law in attacking the flotilla and mistreating its crew.

“Ministers are to give police new powers to target repeated protests, aimed particularly at cracking down on demonstrations connected to Gaza, the Home Office has said.”

They’re enabling a genocide and silencing opposition. This is authoritarianism.

Police to get broader powers to crack down on repeated protests
The move is not a ban on protests but "about restrictions and conditions", Shabana Mahmood tells the BBC.

Robin's right. AND, by cutting folk adrift from the potential of their own creativity, you diminish them. It's no accident.

I think this is dismissive - many people have curiosity removed from them through childhood - leaving school believing science , poetry, art - are not things they are allowed to be part of and terrified that if they try to engage they will be admonished for not understanding things the “right” way
"The only reason people do not know much is because they do not care to know. They are incurious.
Incuriosity is the oddest and most foolish failing there is."

Wish I could say I was shocked, but here's the Labour government constraining the right to peaceful protest again...

'You can protest but only according to our rules. The rules are: you're not allowed to use any of the tactics that make protest effective.'
peterwalker99.bsky.social
NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.
