The govt's targeting of family reunification law in its measures to fix the creaking immigration system are callous.

Family reunification was available to only 600 people last year.

Making the laws around it harsher is nothing less than performative cruelty.

Coming up to the election I want to give a PSA on voter turn out. In Ireland the turnout rate is 54.3% of the 3.43million registered voters. We have a population of 4.8million meaning the turnout rate of the whole population is only 38%. Don't let a minority of the population rule, go out and vote

Absolutely, but it would have been a very long and unwieldy thread if I went into everything -the pathetic response to genocide in Gaza and failure to pass the OTB. The backtracking on any decent response to climate change, touching the forelock, repeatedly and embarrassingly, to Trumps America …etc

I’m still thinking about Gavins response to the question on the #womenofhonour -he saw nothing, he knew nothing-and he wants to be President? Can you imagine him responding as our previous presidents have done to issues as national trauma! He’s the see nothing,do nothing candidate #speirgorm #aras25

I find what is and isn't violence interesting. Denying healthcare to millions directly causing their deaths? Not violence. Deporting people to foreign gulags? Not violence. Carrying out a genocide on indigenous people? Not violence. Shoot someone? Unquestionably unacceptable levels of violence

There's always a lot of talk about Irish reunification but I'm more interested in how many from great Britain would vote in favour of kick Northern Ireland out of the UK.

What's stopping AI companies from just hiring actors to pretend they've been AI generated? These AI videos I've been seeing lately are crazy realistic yet chatgpt ect still seem like garbage generator and AI art is still obviously AI

Had a British guy smugly call instant risotto proof of American laziness/preference for shitty food

And firstly: pretty sure instant risotto exists in the UK

Secondly: we live in a capitalist dystopia where everyone's tired & sad, no one wants to stir risotto for 30min after work, you psycho

Turning 30 is actually not bad because you actually spiritually turn 30 at age 27. By the time you hit 30, you've already been 30 for three years.

A website that doesn't have algorithms pushing ideology skewing heavily left wing might be an indicator as to the average person's beliefs. Idk tho maybe we should be more racist I guess
Bluesky needs more ideological diversity, a thread:

1/8: I think the question of why commentators like Matt Yglesias, Lakshya Jain, Noah Smith, Nate Silver and Richard Hanania don’t post more, or at all on Bluesky is important.

This would be a better platform if they did.
I like posting on BlueSky because I think I’m the most right-wing person who uses this service.

Constantly see "antisocial behaviour" in the news lately and decided to actually search it up and it seems to me to just be a way for boomers to covertly make being annoying a crime.
