Lord knows I'm not a fan of any of this corporate media consolidation — Netflix and Paramount both should be barred from buying WBD.

But in terms of sending a message, would be stellar if everyone watched Good Night and Good Luck on Netflix together next Sunday when 60 Minutes is on the air.

The last two movies I watched, I watched on my iPad. And it was actually an enjoyable experience.
Although I have to place the iPad screen close to me and wear my glasses to see clearly.

My parents were working class in the 70s/80s. My Dad was trained (on the job) to be a machinist.
They bought a house, but an old fixer upper in a declining neighborhood.
They only bought used cars, and more than 2 yrs old.
We went camping for vacations but most vacations were “staycations”.
Instead of “this is important, but I can’t afford it” (health insurance, housing close to work, etc.) or “everyone should be able to afford this, especially in such a rich country, and some can’t, which is bad,” many insist “people in the past had it easier.” The (false) comparison matters to them.

I saw THE SHINING in a cinema for the first time (have seen it many times on tv and DVD) last night. In IMAX!
I was skeptical at first re the IMAX part, but once the film started - WOW! That first shot over the mountains!
And those scenes drenched in red…
Wow.

I listened to McCARTNEY III (2020) today for the first time ever.
Dk why it took me so long!

I loved every song! Paul’s voice has aged but he still creates these bright, catchy melodies.
This album reminds me a bit of the 1st McCARTNEY (1970) too. Overall vibe is pensive, eloquent but simple…

I got a bittersweet Xmas card in the mail today, from my cousin. I’m still thinking about it.
My cousin lives with and cares for my aunt, who has dementia brought on by old age, as well as other health issues.

My cousin included a handwritten note saying she found my aunt’s 2022 Xmas card list.

"Liberals must return to X to challenge the far right"

When we amplify the words of that dumb and morally vapid piece of 💩, we still amplify him.

While he is powerful atm, no need to share his toxic drivel, bc his brain and soul are rotten..

And when we focus on his words, it not only rots our brains, too, it empowers him more to spread the rot.

As we mourn Rob Reiner, don’t skip this: he was, pretty much, personally responsible for overturning California’s Prop 8 banning same sex marriage.

Rob Reiner reflects on the critical role he played in getting California's gay marriage ban overturned.

Post a book quote that you love.

“If definitive proof emerges that we’re living in a simulation, the correct response to that news will be So what.
A life lived in a simulation is still a life.”

I loved ALL IN THE FAMILY as a kid growing up in the ‘70s.
Mike (Rob Reiner’s character) was undoubtedly my first exposure to an adult - albeit a fictional adult - that had politically left leanings and questioned the status quo.
It opened my eyes a bit as a pre-teen in the Bible Belt.

Football and anti-intellectualism.
college football is defunding public research
One interesting statistic from the article followed by two equally interesting statistics about U Nebraska:

Dk why I’m getting Indiana U football stuff in my feed.

IU-Bloomington recently gutted/defunded their College of Arts and Sciences.

Proud to be an alumni from what the uni was in 1990.
But now IU can fuck all the way off with their anti-intellectual administration.

An ambiguous ending isn’t the same as an unsatisfying one.

I realize in our climate of origin stories, prequels, prequels to prequels and spin-offs to explore every story detail, that is difficult to explain but sometimes, we the reader are expected to work things out for ourselves
