This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

Since I seem to now being doing my Best Threads of 2025, consider the drunken mattress rating system:

I have an overlarge glass of wine because the bartender tried to describe the size in milliliters and I panicked.

I shall now rate the mattresses in the following cities based on having stayed at one hotel there.

Trumpers have a howling void of angry insecurity where a soul should be. Unchecked power tastes like ashes in their mouth because they thought when they got it everyone would be forced to like and admire them even though they’re irredeemable assholes. But people still treat them like assholes.

“MAHA Santa” is a perfect allegory for the MAHA movement: fat-shaming a fictional character who is literally immortal for eating cookies one night a year, while our surgeon general nominee is advertising (for $) milkshakes as “healthy” if they’re made from raw milk…
MAHA: where the most insufferable people you know gather to feel even more self-righteous.

Gosh. I'm wondering what ruling by which Supreme Court Justice might have previously given CBP and ICE the idea that they could just detain people and throw them behind bars for an extended period of time based on the color of their skin and nothing else?
Kavanaugh in a footnote in today's opinion says "the officers must not make interior immigration stops or arrests based on race or ethnicity."

New from me: The storied fiddler Ashley MacIsaac wanted to play a show at a Nova Scotia First Nation. It got cancelled because Google's AI search summary incorrectly called him a sex offender. Now he's worried for his safety www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/arti...

Like the Kremlin does.
Trump’s 'National Security Strategy' declares the US will focus on 'cultivating resistance to Europe’s current trajectory within European nations.' That amounts to a declaration the US will promote regime change in countries that remain governed by pro-democracy parties that support the EU and NATO"
Make America Weak
Trump is systematically undermining America's interests at home and abroad.

This really is the most important bit:

No matter how "confident" "Gen AI" sounds, it's only calculating what you're mostly likely to accept.

Like a pickup sleazebag or the current occupant of the oval office, maybe Something it says will resemble the truth, but it doesn't know or care if it does.

So… these "questions of accuracy" were always going to happen once the Washington Post chose to make "Personalized AI Podcast" bullshit, bc statistically generative sycophantic bullshit engines are not, & frankly cannot be about "accuracy." You know that, right NPR? Please say you know that by now…
Questions of accuracy arise as Washington Post uses AI to create personalized podcasts
The Post calls the podcast an "AI-powered tool" that turns its articles into an audio news digest.

One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

yeah I have so many people replying to me like "they don't plan to answer to the voters"

I mean of course they don't but their "plan" is, by all appearances, of underpants gnomes level of sophistication.

1) Do crime in public.
2) ???
3) Never lose power.
i know one view is that "they don't intend to lose power" but i honestly think this gives them way too much credit.
