My kids play this game where they take a bite out of an apple, piece it back together and ask “Is it broken or not?”

And I just found the #BikeHfx parking equivalent to this. 😭 (will report)

It's as if people want more walkable retail environments, populated by small businesses.
Chicago Christkindlmarkt update: Due to severe overcrowding in past years, OEMC has reduced entrance capacity 80% (!!) from 5,000 to 1,000 people. This has caused very long lines and a deserted feel once you got in. 🧵

Being overcrowded is an essential characteristic of a Christmas market, not a problem.

Then it gets warm.

I personally don’t like crowds, but I understand that they are necessary from time to time.

Now I’ll never be able to use it alone again.

A recap of how our holiday dinner conversations usually go 😅

If you don’t want us to go off about good urbanism and the perils of overly restrictive zoning, parking minimums, transit, and forced car dependence, probably best to keep us to one glass of wine 🍷

Right now I am a kind of unemployed or underemployed.

People ask me repeated: Do you not like your old job?

Oh, I love my old job. I am highly qualified and very well-regarded in what I have done. That was nice.

But other things I love more.

And capitalism no longer offers me any compensation.

We were planning to travel to the USA for a few weeks this year, but decided against it in February.

And that will remain the case for a while.

There are over 1,000,000 places in the world that are more beautiful* right now, so why should I travel to the USA.

*and less expensive too
The US is facing a significant loss in international tourism in 2025, with the World Travel & Tourism Council(WTTC) projecting a $12.5 billion drop in international visitor spending.
This makes the US the only country out of 184 studied to be projected to see a decline, driven

U can have a park for the people or park cars. The town of Tulln in Lower Austria made the choice for the people. They turned a concrete desert into a green paradise at the very heart of the city. We need more of these transformations. For families, seniors, teenagers…..
Park statt Parkplatz, Grünoase statt Asphaltwüste: In Tulln wurden mehr als 150 Parkplätze durch einen grünen Park für Menschen ersetzt. Ist viel schöner, verbessert Mikroklima und Lebensqualität. Nachahmenswert! #Klimakrise #Klimawandelanpassung

Loved seeing Te Komititanga full of people celebrating the lighting of Te Manaaki, Auckland’s Giant Christmas Tree.

Hard to believe a few years ago this civic space was a four lane road. It’s much better now and it is used by tens of thousands more people each day.

I’ll pay for the bike racks in front of your store. In return, I’ll receive €1/$1 from you for every customer with a bike as a return on my investment in your store.

Apparently the Seattle police department parked in a bus lane to go get food, causing a backup.

To me, this is expected as police are often the worst offenders for endangering people's lives by parking in a bike lane.
