I have lived in the UK for over 20 years and my entire adult life. I speak very little American English unless I mean to. So WHY am I still incapable of remembering how I’m meant to pronounce oregano?

I’ve signed off work for the day but I still appear to be trapped at my desk…

I’m working on Christmas Eve but the Mr is braving Waitrose, so I suspect I’ve actually won in this situation…

It’s just over a week since we had to say goodbye to Liquorice and everything still seems mostly terrible.

This thread gave me some sudden childhood flashbacks! I was assured that smiling harder when it hurt would make it hurt less, because smiling releases endorphins and endorphins are natural painkillers!
and I am trying to think of how to explain to this man that I literally DO NOT KNOW HOW to not smile when an exercise hurts

and he was like, “fucking ballerinas, man, every one of them is the fucking Terminator”

and it was the most validating thing anyone has ever said about me

Had a long chat with Brian Eno about outsider art. Only realised this about a half hour later when a colleague came to ask if I had seen Brian Eno in his amazing coat (it was an amazing coat).
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Well that BBC AI translation was genuinely off putting.

I would like to have a word with whoever decided rowing umpires should wear white trousers.

Yes, it’s very boring hearing people talk about doing marathons, and I’ve tried really hard not to fall too much into that. But I completed the London Marathon in my nightmare weather conditions and wrapped up the London Classics, raising almost £3k for @kidneycareuk.bsky.social

One of these days we’re not going to have the lovely bin man who comes up the drive for our bin and I’m going to actually have to start remembering to put the bins out, and that will be a very sad day.

We're going to be planting a lot of trees, okay, so if you see one popping up in your garden or living room, just mind your own business.

I had a real mental health wobble earlier (probably should not have read That Piece tbh!), but I managed to pull myself together and got outside for a walk. I kept tricking myself into going just a bit further until I was to the point where it just made sense to do my full ~8km loop

yeah I have that sinking feeling as I settle in to read another piece about the horrible things that seemingly lovely men do to women that...

...can the actual good men not just take this now. Read about the abusers. Ask hard questions. Come up with ideas of what to do.

Just take it for a bit.
it's going to sound gimmicky but I think that women shouldn't have to read the Gaiman piece but all men should read it to the end, just as all men should have read all the long reads about the Pelicot case, so many seem to still not realise the extent to which so many men hate and want to hurt us

Here I am sitting on the sofa doomscrolling through insomnia and trying to lure the cat to join me when the foxes decide it’s the perfect time to start having sex apparently directly outside my front door.

I was actually concerned about this when we were moving to the UK, so checked with my mum what time I was born. (Luckily early enough it was still the same day in the UK, so potential minor identify crisis averted!)
If you live in a different time zone than where you were born, there’s actually a real chance that you weren’t born on your birthday.
