The early 3D games just didn't age that well for people unless they really love that aesthetic. A Link To The Past just feels like the way better game to me in 2025.

I promise, you don't need to learn to integrate LLMs into your workflow to "keep up with the future."

You think they can keep these billion dollar data centers open once the bubble bursts? No chance in hell. In the future, LLMs will be far less present in our lives than today.

Gavin Newsom is on the wrong side of history. He has completely missed the moment, and it will ultimately cost him his chance at the presidency. His weasel shit might have played in the 2024 primaries if we'd had them, but he'll be cast aside well before 2028.

1. A new poll shows that Virginia voters prefer Democratic Governor candidate Abigail Spanberger's approach to trans issues over Republican Earle-Sears by a wide margin.

She's ahead 10 points in the race now, and voters prefer her 50-37 on trans issues.

New Poll: Voters Prefer Spanberger For Virginia Governor On Transgender Issues By Wide Margin, Despite Anti-Trans Ads
The issue also ranked lowest among issues polled. The CNU poll is the second poll showing Spanberger pulling ahead.

Any trans person who begins their transition today is exhibiting more courage than most people will in their entire lives.

Ellison's CBS brought on the two editors that got NYT to publish Tom Cotton's 2020 op-ed calling for soldiers to shoot protesters in the streets. Hard to find a clearer editorial throughline than "anyone protesting murder by the state should be killed for it."

Look, I appreciate this. TV needs more of this. Let’s have fun again. Seriously things are so bad in the industry and everywhere. Let’s all turn on stuff at night together and go “that was insane” and then surprise there are 20 more episodes and the characters don’t remember being in orbit.

According to Pete Walker, one of the key elements that distinguishes CPTSD from PTSD is the locus of control and blame. PTSD tends to be more externally-focused: there are threats outside. CPTSD tends to be internally-focused: I am in danger because *I am being/doing things wrong*.

I genuinely am shocked to think that there may be autistic people out in the world who *don't* have CPTSD because existing in our current society as autistic is so fundamentally traumatic
dogblud.bsky.social
No shit we all have CPTSD. We've been violently depersonalized our whole lives, completely disconnected from who and what we are until we finally figure it out, and when we do and talk about it there's a chance some redditors will appear out of thin air to tell us we're delusional.

I have reinvented myself and my career multiple times since I turned 30, and I expect to do so again. Do not believe you can't radically revamp your life as you age. You can, and you will, and you must!
scalzi.com
When I turned 30 I had not yet written my first published book or my first published novel and did not know (or know of) some of the most important people in my life. I didn't know how much my life could still change, and did, after the age of 30. There is so much your life still yet to live.

Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

It's totally possible (and fun as hell) to bring that energy into a relationship if you're doing it from an emotionally healthy place! I have a T4T relationship with that energy and it's so healing for both of us. You just have to make sure it doesn't collapse into codependency and it's so good.

Oh hey I had this exact experience as a millennial. Cool scam that keeps getting run on every generation.
cassieceleste.bsky.social
Yup! And it kinda ruins the actual thing some, too. It's so toxic.

When I first learned about AI, I was sympathetic to the idea that if a being that plausibly could be sentient said it was sentient, you should believe it.

Then I learned how LLMs worked.

Gang, these things aren't conscious. "AI" is just a name chosen to make a faulty product seem important.

history teacher in 50 years: So in September, that’s when the president signed an executive order criminalizing anti-fascism and saying all resistance would be crushed

student: oh so that’s when the whole country realized they were living under fascism

teacher: haha what? oh no lol not at all. no.

My personal tier list is something like this, though I could probably be persuaded a bit on some of them.
Taylor Swift album tier list

I've also come around to Reputation being a legitimately great album, so maybe her last two will grow on my more with time.

I do think the hate Life of Showgirl is getting right now is overblown - a chunk of people just REALLY want to hate on Taylor and see vulnerability for the first time ever.
cassieceleste.bsky.social
Life of a Showgirl: it's totally fine! Not great, but fine. I liked it more (at least at first listen) than Tortured Poets Department.

Both records suffer from the same problem: she cannot live a normal life, and hasn't for many years. Being incredibly rich is the worst thing for an artist.

This week:

- 18 state attorneys general openly declared support for trans people, including a stunning rebuff for anti-trans talking points.

- Kansas(!) is now letting trans people change gender markers.

- The Dems DID NOT ( at least for now) cave on trans healthcare in the budget.

WE CAN WIN
