People who brag about their SAT score after age, I dunno, 19 are somehow almost always the dumbest people alive
Maybe my expectations are unreasonably high for humans, but I find it very difficult to imagine thinking this, let alone thinking to publish it. The “savor” speaks volumes.

Trump officials' showings at hearings today were disasters, but it doesn't make headlines bc the media's default assumption is that Rs are clownish rascals. But if Dems didn't know what was happening at their agencies or what habeas corpus is, it'd be front page news. This is a key media asymmetry.

It’s too bad we can’t figure out a way for him to watch Fox instead of Fox News because then our entire government would be the cast of Bob’s Burgers and the baby from Family Guy
President Trump said on Thursday that he would name the Fox News personality Jeanine Pirro to be the interim U.S. attorney for Washington, hours after he was forced to pull his first choice.

This is my historian pet peeve. People think that NOW we super smart cause us have shiny gadgets & "left superstition behind." Meanwhile ppl keep buying creams to look younger & drink diet coke while shoving down 4000 calories. Magical thinking is still very much alive, in different forms & shapes.
people will make fun of ancient civilization for consulting oracles and cutting up livers to tell the future and then type “what is the meaning of life?” into ChatGPT

I despise the fact that his entire plan was fucking public for YEARS before the election but still several million people thought fascism was acceptable for…lemme just check my notes here…the PROMISE of lower grocery prices from a known liar. Yknow, the term we apply to people who break promises?!

I wrote about Elissa Slotkin’s call for elected Democrats to act more like Lions head coach Dan Campbell.

Slotkin is right. Sort of.

Senator Elissa Slotkin says Democrats need the "goddamn alpha energy" of Dan Campbell. She's half right.

It’s high time we start telling fascists when they’re wrong. It’s not a matter of debate, supporting these deplorable policies is the wrong side of the moral equation. Not telling people they’re wrong is how we got to so many idiots thinking they’re smart.
This drives me mad. If polls say voters don’t disapprove of disappearing people to gulags, then the voters are fucked up and need to be persuaded or shamed into decency. You can’t just treat a view like that as an unshakeable given. There’s no modus vivendi with a fundamentally indecent electorate.
This is why it's stupid for dem consultants to keep insisting "don't hit them on immigration." Hit them on what they're strong on, *because they're doing terrible shit and you can make them not so strong any more*

He's going to drop all of these tariffs in a couple months, and then he's going to declare victory and trumpet the fact that the DOW went up 1000 points, and I literally fucking beg the media not to just print that as news without context both in headlines and column inches

Absolutely love seeing anyone with D-Nevada associated doing some damn good!!
Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"

So he’s testing whether or not other countries will act as vassal states by picking and choosing how he enforces tariffs. Any country not playing by his rules will be tariffed out of the world economy, essentially? Exactly why would they continue to do business with us at all? JFC.
BREAKING

President Trump says he is pausing tariffs for 90 days.

The exception being China, he says he is increasing tariffs on China to 125%.

One man just wiped out $10 trillion in wealth, is destroying centuries-old legal protections, and seems determined to unravel humanity’s greatest public health achievement. In 3 months.

I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice.

But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word.

They aren’t firing for a reason.

The kinda take I come to this app for. Good lord, the doom and gloom everywhere else is numbing and not helpful.
Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.
