I generally take these trial balloons with a grain of salt. It’s @axios so heavily based on GOP sources trying to create a sense of momentum. But it’s silly to make a deal for anything but full restoration of Obamacare funding. No promised votes.

Still appalled at how paltry and terrible the NYT coverage of the protests were and how nobody there feels any responsibility to address the criticism. This was not something that caught them off guard. This was many levels of decisions.

Virginia State Senate Dems just brought down fire and fury regarding the “Compact,” notifying the President and Rector that UVA would lose ALL STATE APPROPRIATIONS if it signs and cedes the University to “federal political control.” Notably, their letter directly restates points made here by @siva.
The “compact” for higher ed is an unserious document written by unserious people from a position of spectacular ignorance. No one should take it seriously. Sadly, my bosses are taking it seriously.

Disney and ABC need to feel serious consequences for their collaboration with Trump and MAGA in censoring Kimmel. Economic consequences. Same with the owners of CBS and other organizations that capitulate. The only thing they understand or care about are their own bottom lines.

I'm not a late-night TV person (I find most of it cringe & stale). But the gov should not have the power to withhold licenses from TV corps as punishment for the content of their speech. If Biden had blocked Fox's sale of 21st Century to Disney b/c he didn’t like Tucker, that would have been wrong
