Philly fans are obviously enjoying this but for those of us without a dog in the fight this is as dismal of a Super Bowl as I can remember

From a journalist friend: Just spreading the word. The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down.

RFK Jr. keeps calling the products of hard work by scientists “miracles”. They are not miracles. They are the result of decades of rigorous, thoughtful work by experts, which he refuses to acknowledge.

What a great nfl season. So many great narratives of teams that could finally do it, that looked so promising, so many great heroic stories of perseverance, only for the god damn Chiefs to probably win again

This is probably what’s going to drive me insane in the weeks and months ahead.

Trump’s fascism is going to be presented alongside sports news and wordplay about new animals at the zoo, like all of this is normal.

The challengers score shaped techno music this year, denis villeneuve directed what will be considered the best modern scifi film, and ISTTVG is the representation the LGBTQ+ community needs in film. I’ll never understand the academy.
The Oscars are always a bigoted joke, but emilia perez getting the most nominations and ISTTG AND CHALLENGERS GETTING NONE???? really solidifies that the Oscars shouldnt exist.

Continuity of funding is key to keeping your laboratory running and your colleagues paid. Even just missing one cycle can throw that into complete chaos. And here we are. No February cycle, minimally. Many people will be out of a job just because of this.

Look up colleagues in NGOs, start having the conversation about what you can do to leverage your expertise and your lab to save lives.
Now that federal scientists are constrained from protecting our food supply and air, preventing disease outbreaks, and reduce carbon emissions,

it’s on us as university and industry scientists to pick up this work. Find where your lane needs your engagement, and wade in.

Can’t wait until these guys have to define in court a “DEI hire” and “DEI employees.”
So this is the lawsuit I may have to join. Someone please coax out of Rufo the particular cabinet members who are making lists of women and racial minorities who will targeted for firing.
The guy who manufactured the outrage against Critical Race Theory and Elon Musk are now just simply firing non-whites and non-males in the federal government.
