I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.

My favorite part is how it doesn’t make my day job easier or faster but managers think it does so my deadlines are tighter, my team is smaller, and any time I mention what I do people immediately tell me how my job will disappear in a couple years.
AI has actively made life worse for literally everyone
- tech is now more expensive
- you cannot trust most media of reality anymore
- programs barely function
- energy prices
- literal psychosis
- your voice can be literally stolen for evil

My favorite part is how it doesn’t make my day job easier or faster but managers think it does so my deadlines are tighter, my team is smaller, and any time I mention what I do people immediately tell me how my job will disappear in a couple years.

Most clients/projects will make it virtually impossible to reach the level of quality you expect. Learn to live with "there's nothing I can do about this, there's no sense in wasting more time/energy on it".

"the union is a third party, let's resolve our issues directly" is a common management anti-union talking point, but I think pro-union folks also too often think of "the union" as a separate entity that can solve their problems for them, instead of a vehicle for members to create change themselves.
I think we need to change the way we talk about SAG-AFTRA. Not a dig at Jeff here (I too would like to see a SAG-AFTRA Amazon Agreement,) but we've got to stop referring to SAG-AFTRA as an organization that can just "step in" and do stuff.
