there is no constituency that needs you to fall all over yourself to call Maduro illegitimate before you dare criticize Trump. Voters have been down this road before. No one thought Saddam Hussein was a nice guy. Criticism of Maduro at this stage correctly reads as a defense of Trump to most people.
Just an absolutely pathetic response from absolutely pathetic people. I was not a fan of Pelosi but even she would be better than the current crew.

This passage in The New Yorker, definitively proves the IDF systematically breaks international law *and* lies about it.

Firsthand testimony of medical equipment “methodically” destroyed.

But, IDF spokesperson: “Claims that the IDF deliberately targets medical equipment are unequivocally false.”

this whole ever-shifting target of "when will be in crisis" is so frustrating. we have been in a constitutional crisis for 25 years, often with the enthusiastic support of new york times reporters. we are now in the final collapse that is inevitable after 25 years of unaddressed crisis

Tonight in 2003—at 9:34pm EDT—Operation Iraqi Freedom began when US, UK, and “Coalition of the Willing” forces launched a “shock and awe” aerial bombing campaign and invasion of Iraq to find and destroy nonexistent WMDs. It killed an estimated 281,000-315,000 people and cost more than $2 trillion.

Well, there it is folks. The official ADL position is support for Trump secret police to illegally detain and deport green card holders if they are part of pro-Palestine protests. If and when DHS starts doing this to citizens, count on the ADL to continue its support. This is who they are.

So it goes without saying, but let's say it anyway: the concentration of attacks on trans people isn't because trans people are the only people fascists hate (although they absolutely do hate them). It's because they're the people they think non-fascists are least likely to defend.

58 Democrats helped Republicans pass the Laken Riley Act, which will enable Trump's ICE to put migrants *accused* of shoplifting in detention, without due process.

As in, with Trump's new call to detain 30,000 migrants in Guantanamo, these Democrats may help put them there:

Some intel: I've talked to journalists and folks on the Hill about this. Last night after OMB's action, some Senate Dems tried to unify the caucus to vote against Duffy. Schumer, among others, opposed it, and it flopped.

The current Dem leadership strategy is to use strong language but not do shit.
Yesterday, every Democrat voted to advance Sean Duffy (DOT)'s nomination.

In protest against Trump's unconstitutional freezing of federal funds, 22 Democrats voted NO on confirmation today.

Glad to see more demonstrated urgency. But that 22 should be 47.

The ADL never ever extends grace or the benefit of the doubt to Muslims, women of color, or anyone who is critical of Israel. But they implore us to treat the richest man in the world who has clearly allied with Nazis and just did a Nazi salute with “a bit of grace” and “the benefit of the doubt.”
This is somehow much worse than what I expected
