A person rolled their car into my teenage son a fortnight ago. It was broad daylight and the driver was looking down while their car was rolling forward. I know, because I was yelling, trying to get their attention. Drivers who don't see us are often not looking.

it can be hard work being an active citizen and lots of people don't have the time or capacity to do it. which means opportunities to participate in civic life are not equally distributed.

Those who have no choice but to drive should be arm-in-arm with pedestrian, cycling & public transport advocates when it comes to supporting traffic reduction measures.
When I'm part of traffic I wish everyone in front of me was walking, cycling or on the bus.
