Forever on the look-out for the perfect image to go with my favourite quote from A Lover's Discourse
Oh coooool look @joshuashaw.bsky.social has published his piece on body bequests prior to the Anatomy Act of 1832 and I know from when he presented it at KLS that this is absolutely fascinating stuff www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

The full final cover is in and I would just like to draw your attention to that slim elegant spine - you will be able to get through this bad boy over the course of a medium-length train journey and arrive at your destination freshly conscious of the alien lifeform that battens on our biosphere

there is YOU WOULDN'T DOWNLOAD A HOUSE discourse going on & I just want to say that it is very mean and contemptible to download pirate copies of stuff being sold by independent creators but downloading pirated corporate IP is a solemn moral duty xx

Oooh I should add that it has attracted this very helpful endorsement quote:

Just saw a bleet that describes capitalism as "an economic system that depends on a constantly accelerating throughput of material resources". I agree that that is what it is!! HOWEVER. Did U know that there is no science of it, as such? You would think maybe Marxism? Biophysical economics? but no.

thinking about this has reminded me that the cross-examination of me in Forstater v CGD was based on the proposition that the reason I was giving evidence at all was attention-seeking and ... I think it is pretty clear from how things have unfolded which one out of the two of us likes attention lol
I don't mind changing in public I have done it a lot on beaches, by rivers &c. But it annoys me that I am characterised by the cis as having some kind of attention-seeking/imposing-my-fetish-on-them thing going on yet it is THEM forcing ME to expose my hermaphrodite body to their prurient gaze. 2/n

The pic is of the mixed pond which is the only one I can swim at because I am neither a man nor a woman. Ironically (in the Alanis Morissette sense) the mixed pond has only men's and women's changing areas, so despite it being the only pond I can swim at, it still manages to be exclusionary. 1/n

Wowee this (Cross) is the EHRC's lawyer arguing in court that a trans-inclusive women's loo is *discriminatory against cis men* because the men's might have a queue which trans women can skip HAVE YOU NOT NOTICED WHICH LOO HAS THE QUEUE OUTSIDE IT BACK IN THE REAL WORLD KISHWER MAYBE FIX THAT??
33/ Cross suggested that perhaps they are not side by side, and there might be a queue. The judge responded that a queue would be transient and would not amount to direct discrimination.

Genuinely believe with my whole heart that the stances on trans rights taken by @zackpolanski.bsky.social are contributing massively to a load of emotionally burn-out and mentally exhausted trans people having hope for the first time in bloody ages.

this strikes me as a really good framing - @elliemaeohagan.bsky.social is this one you considered in your work on this stuff?
We need to frame this as “Billionaires need to *take less* - framing it as they’re going to “pay more” implies that they’ve somehow ‘earned’ their billions - “taking less” (including taking less tax breaks) so that there’s more to go around for everyone else is grounded in equity narratives.
The Spectator are confused.

It's not going to be cost free.

Billionaires are going to pay more.

the secret is that we keep marxism sort of confused & rough around the edges so that you (you in particular!) can have the joy of setting it right. it’s like a proof left to the reader, or those scenes in video games where you have to press the X button quickly to save the world

This is the core ontological point. Biological sex is 100% real, but it is a process, not a set of categories.
The category not the act. The latter is real and it’s great. The former is made up jibber jabber.

ye gods if the reason Streeting is deliberately torturing trans children is because the press are holding back shit they have on him then there really can be no hell hot enough
and those things aren't even "we will be mean to your party's tax policy" they are "we will pull out the file on wes streeting's extracurricular activities"

Further to "late capitalism" having definitively begun on that specific fateful day in 1976, look at the kind of thing that was unleashed?? 👇👀
48 years ago today (4 November 1977), the New Statesman published this article about divisions in the Communist Party of Great Britain. It is the first written use that I have found of the term ‘tankie’ to describe someone who (uncritically) supported the Soviet Union.

I feel like we should designate the era of "late capitalism" as starting on the date the Penguin edition of Capital was published and throw it a birthday party next year
"there is no need to look very far for indications that capitalism's heyday is over. " -- Ernest Mandel, 1976
