I stand with County Executive Calvin Ball as he signs emergency legislation today prohibiting privately owned buildings from being used as ICE detention centers.

A lot of our political discourse would be easier if we didn't extend good faith to people who would never extend it back.

never thought a Georgia rep would say this, but hell yeah
@pabloreports.bsky.social : What do you make of DHS making watchlists of American protestors?

REP. HANK JOHNSON: It's deeply disturbing that we have become a surveillance state ... We're gonna have to abolish ICE.

if it was 1998 we'd have a flash game where elon musk is wearing his children as body armor and they flash every time they take damage until they fall off

the case files of young kindaichi is not a show you're supposed to watch at any regular pace, except 1 a week i guess. but i also cannot stop watching it?

there's a really fun and frustrating level of nostalgia at play.

is it good? sort of. but the predictability of the cases grows each story

The violent occupation of Minneapolis started with a vlog. I've wanted to find a framework to describe Nick Shirley & others like him: "Influencer" is too quaint. "Journalist" is obviously wrong.

I landed on "slopagandist."

i love this game so much, and it was definitely not a game 10-year-old me should've been playing.

but it was the 90s. you think parents knew what video games even were? hardly
Hail to the King, Baby! It's the 30th anniversary of the release of the game starring the Duke of Destruction, the Man of Mayhem, the one, the only...Duke Nukem! Now in 3D!

Released on DOS PCs on 29/01/1996, popularising the Build Engine and greater interactivity in FPS games.

this show really pulled at the heart strings. definitely one of THE dramas that comes to mind when i think of j-dramas. and tokyo tower. don't get me started on that one. 😭

densha also has one of the greatest endings for any show from Japan.

sambomaster is such a fun band

Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.

Excellent article!

it's a shame watching the funding cuts at PBS already impacting what they can and can't do. i swore by the PBS KIDs games and video apps, but now their functionality is being stripped away because of licensing rights.

so many great episodes and THEN to also bring in a feature film that lives and thrives in its own space. a real turning point for american animation

I love and hate these kinds of races. Burnout 3's final race (I think) was this F1 time trial that required 100% nitro uptime the entire race. Any mistake and it was over. Had to restart. It was the only challenge in the game I had left. Never played another racing game since with that kind speed.
The Highland Cliffs Opus battle is the hardest race in the game, and the one I saved for last! You need to memorize the track and if you make any mistakes, it's back to the beginning

Sometimes it's tough to remember this when your own father tells stories of being deployed as the National Guard to stop civil rights protests in Georgia while in the same breath saying how scared he was and how much he hated those protesting.
Respectfully, I am going to whisper to some of our white comrades a truth that should be more widely known: You definitely have some ancestors to be proud of, ancestors who refused white supremacy, and poured out their lives in many of these struggles over time.

Time to claim your true history.

as a millennial, I'm still dreaming of keeping a job longer than a couple of years without getting laid off
The unemployment rate in December among people aged 20 to 24 was 8.2%. For Gen Z, that hit at the beginning of a career could go on to impact their whole life.
To be young and dreaming of a 9 to 5

i'm definitely not gen z, but i examined my relationship with alcohol, my family's relationship with alcohol, the notion that alcohol abuse might be generational really stuck with me. alcohol abuse drove a giant wedge in my family, and i'd rather avoid that happening to myself by any means
