Time to remind people about the Commercial Pattern Archive — it doesn’t have instructions and search is a bear but there’s two hundred years’ worth of clothing patterns in here including all the big names new and old:

‘Blue’s Clues’ host Steve Burns is launching a podcast for adults called ‘Alive.’

The podcast is described as continuation of the beloved kids’ show, that will tackle adulthood and “what it means to stay human in a complicated world.”

The other reason is that many, many screen readers will just blurt out the Unicode name— and sometimes those names are long, make little sense to people not used to seeing them, or don’t mean what you think they mean.

And especially do not stick hashtags in alt text.
Avoid emoji icons in alt text. Emoji icons are a visual element, so it's counterintuitive to add them to non-visual content. You'll likely confuse people with messages that don't make sense. In alt text, use plain text, free of symbols, icons, or any weird special characters.

Please don’t ask a chronically ill person if they’re “better yet”

We’re not getting better. That’s the nature of chronic illness

We adapt. We become better at coping. We become skilled at hiding our pain

Accepting the loss of one’s health is hard. We put in the work. We need you to accept it too

Does anyone know about masks/respirators for service dogs? I found some online but idk if they're equivalent to N95s or surgical masks in covid/bird flu protection. I'd appreciate if anyone has dog mask recommendations or info on their efficacy.

Let’s talk about Dialectical Materialism—the backbone of Marxist philosophy. It’s not just fancy words (yeah, I know it's difficult to explain); it’s a way of understanding the world and why things change. More importantly, it shows how we can change it.

So what is it? And why does it matter? 🧵
By the way, speaking of Leftists (socialists and communists) often not knowing how to share Leftist theory in very simple terms, I'm actually curious if there are any Leftists, on here, who can explain "Dialectical Materialism" in super simple terms. Explain it like you're explaining it to a child.

ME/CFS is violently neglected.

Can you imagine having a disease that causes genetic dysfunction in your immune system and cellular energy production, only to be offered therapy & graded exercise for your 'fear of exercise' and 'deconditioning'?

Many of us do not need to. We lived it.

This is such a great and much needed idea!
In response to feeling isolated by chronic illness and appreciative of remote access to community, I host online Co-Resting Groups. They provide a way to gently socialize and rest in community.

Interested or know someone who might be? Please have a look and share!

Question for y'all #CovidCautious ppl, what is my safest option for drinking water when I need to be at a public place for 6+ hours?

I'll have the option to go outside but no guarantee I'll be able to find a spot away from others and summer heat will be a problem.

Did you know that you should end your alt text with a period?

"End alt text with a period, even if it isn’t a full sentence. The period ensures that the screen reader pauses after reading the alt text."

This was a new tip for me. Glad to learn something new!

The internet isn’t just a place for memes and videos, though those can be great—it’s a space where real, meaningful connections are made.

A kind word, shared story, or ‘virtual’ friend CAN change a life. Never underestimate the power of an online community. 🌍💻

Alright, #NEISVoid fam, I have another question for y'all.
Friday I had an episode where I realized I wasn't breathing then couldn't remember how to.
My doc thinks it was an absence seizure but that doesn't line up with the Internet.

So I'm asking if any of you know more about seizures like this?

I was gifted this pillow for crocheting and it helps with using my phone too!
I'm a large-fat and it wraps around my sides and hugs me nicely.

Definitely follow the instructions for fluffing it up.

#NEISVoid I need your help

I'm looking for an app for a smart watch (any that work with Android) that allows you to track your heart for ME/CFS pacing.

Needs to be able to set a high heart rate of about 110 with a notification that goes off when that heart rate is met or exceeded.

Thank you ❤️😊

A problem with having diseases, chronic illness, or chronic pain is that when you take meds to alleviate pain or symptoms or take exceptional care to avoid aggravating things, while thinking it's a short-term solution, it can nullify testing or clinical presentation. 1/ #NEISvoid #Disabled #Spoonie
