Funnily enough, I got into journalism before I ever got on twitter, but it was only by embracing social media and learning (to manipulate) its mechanisms that my career really took off. Absolutely inseparable

This is nonsense.

Beyond it being a paid, source sourceless ~HOLLYWOOD INSIDER~ newsletter it is nothing but navel gazing AI boosting from the word go. I mean just read this.

"Opened with a flourish worthy of a Casablanca finale"

That's nothing. You just named a famous movie. Go home.
When OpenAI unveiled GPT-5 on Aug.7, CEO Sam Altman opened with aflourish worthy ofa Casablanca finale: "our smartest, fastest, nost useful model yet." The implication was clear- management consultants, lawyers and other white- collar professionals were about to get supercharged.

Preston Mulligan at CBC did a bit on bridge traffic focusing on the 40% reductions in collisions. Mulligan spoke with people who say the collisions are still happening but just not where the toll plazas used to be:

Accidents on Halifax bridges down since removal of tolls
Halifax Harbour Bridges says accidents are way down on both the MacKay and Macdonald bridges — all thanks to the elimination of tolls. Preston Mulligan has the story.

Ray Lewis was one of Canada's greatest sprinters in the 1930s.
The first Canadian-born Black Olympic medalist, he was known as Rapid Ray for his speed on the track.
At one point, he held 17 national high school championships.
This is his story.

A black-and-white historical photo of two athletes racing on a track, with one wearing a numbered jersey (77) and the other in a darker uniform. The scene is set in a stadium with a large crowd of spectators in the background, seated in stands. The track is marked with lanes, and a pole is visible on the right side. The photo is credited to an unknown source from the Wolf Reinhart Archive (cropped).

I really hope folks give this a read. There's also an audio version linked in the piece. I firmly believe that we must learn from the Black trans folks who came before us in order to survive what is already here and what is coming next.

For my newsletter, I interviewed Chastity Bowick, the new executive director of the Marsha P. Johnson Interview about what white trans folks (and cis people) can learn from the Black trans community who have always been under this type of overwhelming oppression. www.burnsnotice.com/black-trans-...

This is a REALLY good video that gets into the *specifics* of how AI is degrading our information environment and putting truth further out of reach for the average person / the population as a whole

I walked into the lounge last night to find my teenage son watching this. We have long admired @kurzgesagt.org and found their videos to be extremely illuminating. But this one in particular I think is so important right now!

I’d say “back to work post surgery” would typically be a bit depressing, but for the first time it really, REALLY feels like I’m living my full life, banal normalcy and all.

Also its my birthday on Saturday!

Oh god I’m 40 🤣😭

Trans people, I am once again asking you—nay, begging you—to share something good that is going on in your lives right now!

I’ll start: I’m working on a new graphic novel and having a blast with the creative team we’ve assembled!

I have not seen the doc yet, but I remember when he died, and how big a deal is was for Canadians in particular.

If you're an early 80s baby, John Candy was a staple in your entertainment from movies to cartoons (Camp Candy, anyone?)
