Superman is exactly the story the world needs right now. A heroic immigrant fighting back against an evil billionaire.

Pro Tip: When you're incredibly frustrated by politics but it's the middle of the night so you can't organize a march or blow up lawmakers' phones, it is more healthy to get off social media and watch a movie or play a game or otherwise just do something to try and improve your mood rather than stew

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Humanity is doing great

The most evil American is the President of the United States

The most evil man ever to become a US citizen after years of living here illegally will become the world's first trillionaire

And the center of global democracy, the White House, will soon host an MMA cage match

One of the dumbest lies they have going is that "educated liberal big city folks" have someone never in their lives come across a conservative. I promise you we have cruel tacky assholes in Massachusetts and California and everywhere. Millions of them!
The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.

While the courts are ruling the government must release SNAP benefits and folks are donating to food banks in record numbers, let’s not forget that both are poor stopgaps to a Universal Basic Income. UBI has produced stunning outcomes every single time it’s been tried.

The thing about Christianity as a universal religion in a multi-faith context is that it flatly does not respect other faiths, even if *individual* Christians and Christian organizations genuinely do. Noting this is not anti-Christian bias: it's an honest assessment of the religion's priorities

The question of who gets blamed for a shutdown isn't just a matter of who voted for what.

It's that when a shutdown hits, it's a matter of who can be seen as trying to help during a hardship and who uses the hardship to their advantage.

And Republicans just enjoy hurting people. It's that simple.

The very idea that the man who could write this paragraph would support Musk's valorisation of 'hard men' is for the birds.

And ironically Samwise Gamgee is actually one of the 'hardest men' in fiction, but largely because he is the exact opposite of everything the reactionaries yearn for.

Your ability to eat should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get healthcare should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get housing should not depend on your productivity

Saying “be more productive!” To those who are struggling devalues human life.

It aids fascism.

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
America... boy, I dunno.
