The results of Musk’s chainsaw.
A maternity ward doctor donated his own blood during surgery to keep a pregnant patient alive.

One woman gained fewer than 10 pounds over her entire pregnancy.

Another collapsed and had seizures during labor.
What I Saw at a Maternity Ward in Kenya After the U.S. Cut Off Food and Foreign Aid
Photographs tell a story of two mothers determined to help their babies gain enough weight to leave the hospital — only to face little to no food again.

It may be true that most Trump voters didn't affirmatively support mass deportation and rather voted for him for other reasons. But something as odious as mass deportation (and grotesque xenophobia), which was clearly a major plank in Trump's platform, should have been a deal breaker.

2025 RECAP: Trump is the most corrupt President in American history. Each and every day this year, he’s abused his power to line his own pockets & help his billionaire friends.

Trump has created a government run by the crooks, for the crooks.

Trump has done so much damage to democratic institutions not via clever, well executed strategy, but by acting on authoritarian/bigoted/corrupt impulse, then stubbornly barging ahead if he meets pushback.

Manufacturing charges against Abrego Garcia only after deportation failed is a good microcosm.
Newly unsealed docs show DOJ moved to prosecute Kilmar Abrego Garcia for smuggling only after it became clear Trump might not be able to deport him. Sure looks driven by a desire to punish him for fighting back against Trump/Miller lawlessness. Trump had to be right.

This is a perfect example of why it’s so very irresponsible for educational and other orgs to give in to Trump extortion. It buys into the premise that accepting Fed funds gives the President a license to use them to reward or punish in any amount, w or without the requisite statutory processes 1/2
BREAKING

The Trump administration says it has frozen all childcare payments to Minnesota in the aftermath of allegations of fraud by some in the Somali community.

Important: allegations along these lines have existed for years, which has resulted in prosecutions starting with the Biden DOJ.

We don't have due process. We have entire groups being punished for the alleged actions of a few.

I'm hearing from WA state small businesses who are feeling the squeeze from Trump's tariffs—with many having to raise prices and some being forced to shut their doors altogether.

More Republicans need to stand up to Trump and join Democrats to reverse these reckless tariffs.

Doomerism in January was cowardly preemptive surrender, but done at a time when the future was unknown.

Doomerism in December is still cowardly preemptive surrender, but now also requires ignoring all the non-doomer things that have happened over the year.
I’m not gonna dunk on some small depressed account, but one reply I get to this is “you think there’s gonna be elections/Trump will listen to judges??” And I wonder how people haven’t noticed that Garcia is home and free and Republicans got crushed in elections this year

Lots of conversations at the multilingual phonebank I ran last year with immigrant citizens who thought deporting dangerous criminals sounded great, not realizing the true plan was to target and terrorize whole communities based on skin color and national origin.
