It is hard to watch CBS crumble to fascism. I grew up watching the big 3 nightly news shows.
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

In the grand tradition of American journalism, both sides must always be expressed. On the one side, there might be the moral courage of CECOT survivors who told us their story. On the other side, there might might be my service to oligarchical fascism in killing their story.

Bet @gavinnewsom.bsky.social has a rebuttal on this one. That threat flows both ways.
Sean Duffy on blue states: "What I can do is I can pull their money. That's the leverage I do have ... I guarantee you that the federal taxpayer is not going to fund their roads and bridges and their systems when they are putting illegals on the roads."

Sums up most leadership in orgs today. Put in place for an agenda and nothing else.
Bari Weiss is really bad at her job, until you realize it's her job to be really bad at her job, in which case she is excellent at her job

Bari all like, "Fuck it, we ain't doin' journalism no more. Period." Kinda wild to be living through such a wild age of immorality and corruption. I mean, truly.

They all need to go. All of them.
Confirmed: House Democratic leaders have decided to use a stock trading ban bill as a campaign issue rather than actually pass something that had the GOP support to advance.
Jeffries' team is actively discouraging participation in the bipartisan bill and warning outside groups too.

A bipartisan solution was gaining momentum, but the House Democratic leader just issued his own bill that will prevent consensus.

the funny thing is, opinion and lifestyle bloggers have no idea how skilled professional journalists are at weaponizing information. And when we're wronged, or our colleagues are, we are ruthless and unforgiving. these fucksticks are all learning this lesson the hard way.
i would simply not have started my tenure as head of CBS news by pissing off every journalist who works there if I wanted to avoid having every single embarrassing thing that happens leak to the press immediately.
Scoop: After an underwhelming ratings performance for Bari Weiss’ town hall with Erika Kirk, the CBS News editor in chief quietly delayed a planned address to staffers about the network’s future, pushing it back to January instead
