Yup. Him still being employed is an evergreen example of privilege.
If I were wrong as often as Ross Douthat, there's not a DEI Woke program in the world that would keep me employed.
counterpoint: you are Ross Douthat

And his fans seem like miserable mother fuckers, too. Always scowling and angry--what a way to fucking live.
We can DEFINITELY enjoy the fact that Trump is miserable. He’s President and he’s miserable. He’s got supreme power and he’s miserable. He’s insecure, resentful, consumed by bitterness and rage and entitlement, incapable of being fulfilled.

I guess it’s possible to enjoy the disappointment and humiliation of Trump supporters even as we plunge over the edge of the chasm.

Trump threatened Indiana Republicans that if they didn't do what he wanted, he'd block all federal funds to their state but they ignored his threats and told him to pound sand.

Take notes, college presidents.

DRIVER: Tell me again about the hash bars.

ST. THOMAS'S SKULL: Okay. What do you want to know?

DRIVER: Well, hash is legal over there, right?

ST. THOMAS'S SKULL: Yeah, it's legal but it ain't hundred percent legal . . .

A million times this.
"A.i." doesn't empower anyone. It strips them of belief in themselves and the power of their own minds and hands and abilities and stories.

EVERY KID CAN DRAW. EVERY KID CAN TELL STORIES AND MAKE COMICS.

Fuck "A.i." for telling kids lies and making them less-than.

Great 🧵
i just did a workshop with kids about making comics. emphasized that ANYONE can make comics. you don't have to be a "good" artist. you find a story that matches your art style and you do it and it's awesome. and a kid who NEVER PARTICIPATES got out from under a desk and PARTICIPATED and had a blast.

DOGE was always a very thinly disguised con to dress up data theft and extraction class destruction of federal corporate oversight as innovative, and it's important to remember that part of the reason it worked so well is that the press helped legitimize it
hey don't be so hard on yourselves; it delivered oceans of sensitive government and citizen data to billionaires
Musk’s DOGE Quietly Killed Off After Delivering Almost Nothing
The agency disbanded eight months ahead of schedule.

Good 🧵
There’s an obvious problem with insisting that we wait until no one anywhere is willing to criticize the government before anyone is allowed to say ~“hey, this seems like incoming fascism”~
If we were living under fascism, none of you would be here daring to post things. You'd be erasing your social media accounts and keeping your head down; you'd know that peacocking your faux-bravery on a network would expose you to being disappeared.
You have no idea what "fascism" really means.

/11 Trump is what he is: an increasingly demented jumble of personality disorders prone to barking out whatever angry stupid thing pops into his head. And he’s the “leader of the free world.”

But many politicians who took an oath to uphold the Constitution will echo his lawless dreck.

"I'm ICE, boys"
You're a PERP, bitch.
An ICE employee was among 16 men arrested after trying to solicit a minor for sex in Bloomington, Minnesota, police say

"When he was arrested, he said, 'I'm ICE, boys,'" Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said during a press conference. "Well, unfortunately for him, we locked him up."

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

I lol'd at "broccoli headed white boys" cause that is the style for kids these days.
On the other site broccoli headed white boys are getting mad at a car enthusiast for getting a Honda Fit as a daily instead of some horrifically impractical two door that gets like five MPG, so I wanted to ask: what is your ideal daily driver that would piss off all the takeover kids?

Amazing stuff here by Vera Papisovain Cosmopolitan. Its subject matter is well-trod territory, but it's a fresh perspective that comes away with a *lot*. Unbelievably sad and hilarious all at the same time. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
