One time a beautiful woman put her arm across my chest while I was dancing in a bar and I was like that's funny. Why did she do that.
Every man has a moment where he depressingly realizes a girl was flirting with him 10 years ago.

Rudy Giuliani absolutely did not try to shortchange a sex worker and then was pursued by her colleagues, don’t you dare suggest such a thing

New York folks I am looking for activists in the city who:

- Organize within immigrant-adjacent labor issues in the city

this whole thing is built off of people not actually valuing the labor and skills of artists. if you are an artist, there is joy in the hard work, even when it is thankless and grueling and you want to quit 500 times. there is no joy like seeing your hard work create something beautiful.

the reality is that actually making art and developing your artistic skill is hard fucking work. wanting to circumvent that and get instant easy art isn't "democratizing", it's being impatient and lazy and not viewing art as worth expending energy on.
the whole argument that AI is somehow "democratizing" art and there's no accessible way to learn an artistic skill is such bullshit to me because literally every single skill i have i either taught myself or someone in my life very enthusiastically offered to teach me! artists love to teach others!

The Anti-Defamation League, which still calls itself a civil rights organization, endorses disappearing US permanent residents with green cards.

The moral stain of this will never wash off.

you can’t grow your OWN caloric needs in a small space but you can grow gazillions of other beings’ caloric intake! and it turns out species that aren’t human are critical to growing human food!

i’m not this mad abt it but might i strongly suggest Grow Your Own Native Plant Garden and Support Your Local CSAs/Small Farmers as a quippy collapse trope instead
For the love of God, if I see one more ',grow your own food' hot take.

Sure, for occasional fresh herbs or a few veggies.

Nobody is growing to their entire caloric intake in an apartment or on a balcony.

This is the important part! If you submit your application for a gender marker change, you will not receive your passport or your supporting documents back.

All applications for gender marker change are on hold while the State Department changes this policy.

Anyone who now submits an application for a change runs the risk of losing access to their passport and documents while their application is being processed.

Today’s an easy day to feel defeated or cynical or pissed off but try this:

Join a local org.

Don’t just go to a protest.

Find a group in your area that works on an issue you care about: Climate, reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ protection, homelessness, anti-war, abolition, labor, etc… We need you.

As a former retail worker:

We were told to never intervene in shoplifting:

1. Dangerous
2. Our margins were so large that one sold item would pay for several stolen ones
3. Most stolen items are insured

Security theater was purely about nationwide crime panic and covering for retails decline.
The Walgreens CEO being like "Whoops! Turns out nobody wants to shop at a store where the products are impossible to access!" illustrates how so many companies disregard the customer experience. I literally don't care if people shoplift from Walgreens. Stop making it my problem.
