I'm begging any artists still using Twitter claiming it's integral to their work to just leave. It's been revealed the site works off a made up "credit score" from hell and punishes you for posting like a normal human being.

Abandon Twitter for good. It's time. It's been time.
A quoted tweet from a user named Sam that reads: "How Twitter is rigged Type in all caps because you're excited? Lowers your reputation. Include links? Your score goes down. It's like the Credit Score system from Hell. And given Cisgender is treated as a slur & MAGA boosted, you can guess what's categorized as 'offensive'" The tweet they quoted is from user SADIQ and reads: "Tweepcred is X's reputation system Based on your behavior, you get a tweepcred score It determines your reach Break the algo rules, you score goes down and your reach disappears What are the rules of the X algo tho? Glad you asked." SADIQ includes a photo of Twitter's algorithm code that calculates a user's reputation. SADIQ continues: "Post 'offensive text'? 80% reach reduction Offensive username? 80% reach reduction All caps tweet? That's seen as 'shouting. Major penalization. Include links? Yup, penalized"

I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

And yeah, I might not be able to remember every detail about the stuff I've written, owing to my moth-brained memory, but you risk me launching into a loving 6 hour presentation if you ask me questions about a scene or character.
Screenshot from Tumblr, user nocryptographer: I talked with someone who works in book publishing, and they mentioned they get a lot of AI slop these days. I asked how they know what's human-written, and they said that there's one thing that will reveal AI slop without error, and that's the author not knowing their own creation. A real author can talk about their story for hours. They love to elaborate every character, every twist, every detail. Because those existed in their head long before they ever made it to the paper. They were loved before they were written. AI slop wasn't. It was just vomited into existence. Someone who generates their story with AI will never bond with their story the way real writers do. That's why they may not know what to say when they're asked why did the character do this, or even remember the scene in the first place. It's something they read, not something they wrote. And to a writer, those are not the same. There's a unique bond between the creator and the creation. If your writing doesn't come of you, you'll always lack that. I keep hearing soon we won't be able to tell. And perhaps, in a superficial sense, that's true. But there is a difference. It's not em dashes or repeated words. It's whether the story was made by someone who loves it and cares about it. If the writer's eyes light up when asked why did the character do that? and they start their very own Ted Talk about that specific scene... then it's real.

We've had somewhere around 1200 images posted for #ArtAdventCalendar in the first 3 days and I would guess that less than 50 have been posted without AltText.

Platform wide, AltText use is about 20% (apparently)

For AAC...about 96%

2025 has been hard. a lot of artists I have followed for years, some of which have personally shaped my own art career, stopped posting all together. whether they entered indefinite hiatuses, retired from art-making to pursue more stable jobs, or disappeared without a trace : I hope they're well.

A screenshot of a Reddit post from r/LegalAdviceUK by user Fun-Blueberry-2147. The post describes that the user’s sister, who has schizophrenia, admitted herself to the hospital after believing someone was communicating with her through her smart fridge, which turned out to be an LED screen advertisement. The post explains that she spent two days under monitoring with medication adjustments and that the specific ad she saw included her name, making it especially distressing. The user questions the legality of such targeted or unsettling ads on smart appliances in the UK.
