The earth is careening through space and oblivion at 67,100mph, spinning at about 1000mph.
It's absolutely terrifying.
We all need a tether, a foundation to hold onto.
What do you live with so it takes away the fear?
Pinned
I've often felt that the biggest issue on the left (and in America in general) is that they were being sold these invisible things called "values" and "ideals." We fiercely cling and smother them in our arms, "These are my ideals they're mine!" that frees us from the guilt of acting like the right.
It’s my unfortunate duty to tell you that a lot of the media platforms and personalities who told you they were on your side and were dedicated to protecting democracy were selling you a product

You know how livid you gotta be to be a whole Caucasian man and refer to the “crackers” that are running rampant in your city? Whoever captured this deserves an honorary best documentary Oscar or something.
Five years ago, this great moment was captured on video:

Today I wrote about our white supremacist political movement's perverse insistence that "we don't have to apologize for being white anymore."

Conservatives have been apologizing, apparently. Did you know? I had no idea. So I asked, and here's what I found.

Apologies For Being White
How supremacists convert responsibility into blame to avoid paying natural costs and to make everyone else pay unnatural ones.

This is so fucking bad.
Among the many reasons you don’t kidnap a foreign head of state at gunpoint even if you have the capability, is that it sparks consequences you can neither control nor anticipate.

I would have loved in Bilbo's birthday speech if he had removed all subtext and just said, "I fucking hate you all."
The Lord of The Rings movies were rated PG-13. By current rules that means that each film could contain one use of the word "Fuck". Which line are you altering to insert the most useful swear word?

"I can't carry it for you, but I can Fucking carry you"

Personally, I think a lot of recent films from established directors are generally well made. Unless there's glaringly poor story construction or directorial ineptitude, it boils down to whether I agree with your point of view or not. And even then, I'll usually have a breakdown on why I disagree.
The paragraph about TV Tropes is spot on. I can't bear that approach to criticism where the main aim seems to be asserting superiority to the work. People who'll identify an influence and be like "Ah, rumbled!" episodes.ghost.io/art-criticis...

Here's my best advice for young critics: Don't presume you know better.

Jesus fucking Christ. Every time I talk myself into, "maybe I'm overreacting with the whole 'strands of fascism' encoded in America's DNA," I read something where it's very obvious those strands love Hitler and think he was just a neat guy.

As more of these photos and emails come out, I'm realizing that the push to prevent them from coming out is less of a partisan issue and more of, "oh wow, America is just kind of a piece of shit."
