Start every day with this reality:

EVERY HOUSE SEAT and 33 Senate seats are up for election in 2026. THAT must be the focus. Let’s get disciplined.

I’m on the Senate floor right now urging my colleagues to vote no on the GENIUS Act.

There is no excuse for Congress to pass a crypto bill that will turbocharge Trump’s corruption and undermine national security, consumer protection, and our financial stability.

There is a false dichotomy drawn between "the ivory tower" and "the real world," and I'm here to report that in a post-industrial society, your real-world economy absolutely hinges on the university.

University towns are factory towns. Universities drive economic activity, not the other way around.

Trying not to think about it now, but this is probably the last time we're going see some of these guys as Celtics. Tremendous appreciation for what they've done and how they've carried themselves. Last year's team was my favorite I've ever covered, in any season, in any sport.

This. You don't even have to agree with any version of US civic belief, but the best version of the US-as-an-idea makes all of us born here citizens.

And citizen as our highest title.
I’ve taught the 14th Amendment but only today did I fully grasp how radically inclusive Birthright Citizenship really is.

What makes you American? Not race, not religion, not lineage.

You’re born here, you belong here.

Then maybe they can do THE RUNNING MAN and then THE HUNGER GAMES.
Kristi Noem has been working with the producer of “Duck Dynasty” to pitch a reality TV show—titled “The American”—where immigrants will compete in a string of challenges across the country “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship,” according to a new report.
Noem Plots Reality Show Where Migrants Fight for Citizenship
A Homeland Security official told the Daily Beast that the show is in the early stages of vetting, though approval has not been given—or denied.

Pete Rose did baseball crimes. We so often have to beg for people to care about players' off the field harms, and Pete Rose's off the field harms were horrible, but he also did baseball crimes. The worst baseball crime! And still we can't be done with him! Exhausting!

The argument of the Trumpists (and the white Afrikaners) is: If a reactionary white person is asked to live in a society they don't get to dominate, if they are "forced" to accept a pluralizing public square and don't get to do as they please at all times, it's basically genocidal persecution.
Within weeks of coming to power, the white nationalist regime flew in Afrikaners as refugees from what the regime's leader called an anti-white "genocide" - while at the same time shutting down asylum and escalating their purge of non-white people they declared "alien enemies."

Not very subtle.
Q: There are many people who fit the criteria of fleeing persecution. Afghans for example. But they're being denied refugee status. So why such an exception for the Afrikaners?

TRUMP ADMIN OFFICIAL: One of the criteria is making sure they can be assimilated easily into our country

If Congress valued the Constitution, it would impeach Trump for bribery.

The Constitution bans US officials—explicitly including POTUS—from accepting things of value from foreign govts. Ben Franklin famously gave up a gift from France as ambassador.

US institutions now see blatant bribery as ok.
The foreign emoluments clause was written to prevent exactly this. Blatantly unconstitutional

I’m still baffled at how America took one of the basic principles of the presidency — the occupant shouldn’t be able to benefit financially from the office — and just said, nah, that just doesn’t count for this one guy.

Donald Trump’s termination of Register of Copyrights, Shira Perlmutter, is a brazen, unprecedented power grab with no legal basis.

It's surely no coincidence he acted less than a day after she refused to rubber-stamp Elon Musk’s efforts to mine troves of copyrighted works to train AI models.
