Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous—

ICE may be shooting people in the face, sending people to concentration camps, and illegally occupying our cities but, apparently, the Democrats think saying, "abolish ICE" is "emotional" and politically "lethal."

The fascists thought they would be able to leverage your bigotry against trans people in order to create a framework for stripping away rights that they can then use on you, and you and your “sincere concerns” proved them right; congratulations, you played yourself.

If you have “sincere concerns” about trans athletes in sports, all it means is that you have given yourself a rationale for your bigotry that you sincerely believe exonerates you for aligning to a far-right tactic for marginalization and exclusion.

There are lots of reasons to compare what is happening now to Nazi Germany and there are also lots of reasons to compare what is happening now to the post-1850 Fugitive Slave Act U.S. and it's *weird* how people respond with interest to the former but total confusion to the latter

US history is generally taught as Plymouth Rock, blank space, War of Independence, blank space, Civil War, blank space, World War II, blank space, 9/11, so this checks out

ICE as an institution is exactly 23 years old. The republic thrived for 2 centuries without it. Most adults are old enough to remember a time when it did not exist. It was crammed through at a time when the country was reeling in shock. We should have known better. 9/11 was not an immigration issue.

There were resignations at CRD under Nixon and Reagan but over far less egregious actions.

Dhillon is by far the worst AAG ever to run that office. No contest.
NEW: Top DOJ officials quit after their division refused to probe Minnesota ICE shooting - At least four leaders of the Civil Rights Division resigned because the section's head, Harmeet Dhillon, decided not to investigate shooting of Renee Good.

Let me give you a thought experiment:

Imagine not just a ban on qualified immunity for authority, but a reversal; a new legal framework, under which authority bears greater responsibility than civilians in matters involving force—as it should.

Absolute Immunity
Alignment with supremacy is a vile choice. Raising the natural costs for those who make that choice by putting first things first.

Remember, when Vance was caught spewing racist lies that Haitian immigrants were eating people's pets, he admitted that "if I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do."

Proudly, openly a liar.

/7 Prosecuting a cop for misconduct, let alone murder, is the hardest prosecution you can do in America. Thanks to America’s culture it’s like trying to convict a fucking kitten for high treason. It’s like trying to convict Jesus. You just cannot rush over confidently into that.

/8 A huge part of what makes it very hard to convict Jonathan Ross for murder was baked into America generations before Trump was President. That’s the primary factor that lets law enforcement kill with impunity, not Trump.

Dick Wolf has killed more black men than Leopold II.

Dems were in power 12 of the past 25 years with the chance to at least *attempt* to reduce the power of the police state and instead gleefully and massively expanded it at every single opportunity.

They didn't even pretend to oppose any of this shit on principle, only the aesthetics.
WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

There are people who don't know, who didn't know. Moments like these are when they learn, and a window opens for people who want to turn their hunger for justice into action, for our numbers to increase. Stay mad and don't get jaded, in my opinion, get the newly passionate on board. 2/2

They were created in the wake of 9/11 and we knew then they’d become repression tools for an authoritarian regime
DHS and ICE are 24 years old. These are agencies that were made and they can be unmade.
