10 years ago the UK could boast about being the top ranked country in Europe for LGBT+ rights.

But Tory and Labour governments have undermined that position through their long campaign of misinformation and demonisation.

Scotland must always stand for equality, not hate.

Feels like Keir and co think the political capital is in alluding to cautious, grown up, backroom diplomacy and not big, bold leadership in a time of (trade and other) war. I fear the reverse is true, and an opportunity to shine, and rally the country, is being squandered.

A gobsmacking story. Water companies let toxic waste disposers, for cash, dump their loads into sewage farms. The sewage sludge is then spread, untested, on farmland, potentially poisoning vast areas, entire ecosystems and the people (you and me) eating the food.

What’s in the millions of tonnes of sludge sprayed on to farmland? The answer won’t make you happy | George Monbiot
Thanks to breathtaking negligence, the liquid fertiliser used to help grow our food bubbles with a lethal cocktail of toxins, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

The scale of this horror must serve as a wake-up call.

Continuing to arm and support Israel only leads to further destruction and lost lives. It makes the UK complicit in war crimes and genocide.

It's a moral obligation for governments to hold Israel accountable for their actions.

in what meaningful way can we say that the constitution is in effect when an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is wielding state power to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations?
Hearing that DOGE went into the Dept of Education today and shut down almost the entirety of the department's in-house research arm, Institute of Educational Sciences, cancelling contracts totally about $900m.

It's the worst-kept secret on these islands that the UK Government is complicit in Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestine.

Selling weapons and giving diplomatic support to war criminals is never acceptable.

2 years ago, Scotland overwhelmingly passed a bill to make Trans people's lives a little easier.

❌But the Tories used an undemocratic backdoor to block it.

🥀Now, Labour plans to abandon the LGBTQ+ community and uphold the undemocratic block on Scotland's bill.

My latest.

As journalists and writers, we have a duty to use language that is accurate and describes our current reality.

I’m no longer going to talk about DEI/Anti-DEI.

Let’s be clear. We are facing racial purges and re-segregation.

#severance #spoilers The Narnia parallels are driving me nuts, is this a secret homage? Four protagonists with two separate lives, the bad guys have magic & a cult, endless winter, a traitor is bribed, and fur coats in the woods! Next: dead hero resurrected and Mr Seth T. defects?

This NYT sleight-of-hand is part of why Trump’s insane racism flourishes. The implication is that it’s possible to “attack diversity” WITHOUT a “racist undercurrent.”

And it “surfaces” - as though Trump hasn’t been a rabid and explicit racist for years, and this is some new tone.

Genuinely insane that a major newsroom isn't running a live post today trying to verify what is and what isn't being impacted by the federal funding freeze. Embarrassing how bad the media response is to this.
Based on the frantic questions I've googled recently — "how do executive orders works," "can gay marriage be repealed," "what is the Office of Personnel Management," "do food stamps still work," — only to find nothing from media outlets, I'm ready to say the mainstream media is in serious trouble.
