Mitt Romney said the quiet part out loud: the rich should pay more in taxes.
The Wall Street Journal attacked him for it.
But he’s right—and ignoring the math is how democracies crack.

Felon autocrat Trump and his buddies are engineering state-run media, turning the U.S. into the next North Korea or Russia. CBS should be ashamed for making themselves complicit in this destruction of democracy.

At least 30 people have died in ICE custody in less than a year under the current administration. With the massive increase in detainments, conditions inside ICE detention facilities will only get worse, leading to even more deaths.

If refusing to comment is enough to kill a story, then the government now has veto power over journalism.
That’s what CBS normalized last night — and it should scare everyone.

CBS Pulled a “60 Minutes” Story Because the White House Refused to Comment — That’s a Veto on Journalism
Pulling a finished investigation because the administration refused to comment isn’t journalism. It’s submission.

I have never, once in my career, heard of a news org responding to a decline-to-comment with, “Well, we’ll hold it until you do.”

The reason is obvious — it gives the subject of your story a pocket veto.

Looking through the Epstein files on the DOJ website, it is extremely clear that when DOJ admitted that it redacted information related to political figures and government officials that they meant MAGA Republicans. Names of Democrats and even anti-Trump Republicans are left in.

Criminal conduct.

Worth noting, I guess, that inside of a year we've gone from administration officials taking selfies of themselves at CECOT and bragging about how it's hell on earth to now getting their horrible little media worms to kill stories about it

This is what censorship ACTUALLY looks like.
Gifting this article on the CECOT story in which Sharyn Alfonsi, the correspondent on the story, is reported as writing: “It [the story] is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now, after every rigorous internal check has been met, is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.”

Does anyone doubt Bari Weiss spiked the story to kowtow to Trump? What a disgrace. At a network that once knew its duty to speak truth to power.
Per NY Times’s Michael Grynbaum on X, this is Sharyn Alfonsi’s email to her “60 Minutes” colleagues in full:

Have you ever heard someone go off, and their words are so perfectly chosen, so well said in that moment, that you’re in awe? You think, “There’s nothing to add here,” and you applaud in your head.

That’s exactly this. Pure perfection. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

There is no basis to withhold these images under the clear terms of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. None.
WOW: The DOJ has DELETED an image from its release of the Epstein files that shows photos of Trump in a drawer.

Yesterday, we noted that this image — file 468 — likely slipped through the cracks while officials were attempting to hide materials pertaining to Trump.

Now, it’s gone.
