we're not going to win by telling other trans people 'we're all going to be forced to detransition or die.' we're not going to win by insisting that there be 'no parties or sex until after the revolution.' we will not win by fear and shame. we win by doing that which keeps us alive

I get this question a lot. I don't have strong views on how transmasc people should dress, but since I often get the question, I've thought about it a bit. Will share some thoughts in this thread. 🧵

@dropout.tv Incredibly disappointed by the new "Crowd Control" episode of Game Changer. If I want men telling dick jokes and making fun of people, I've got the rest of the internet. Felt like I'd entered an alternate universe where Dropout went mainstream (derogatory). Bailed after 10 minutes.

one of the things I always loved about the best children’s & YA literature was it never shied away from saying love was not just important, it was central to defeating evil

in moments of adult cynicism and hopelessness I’ve thought that was too simple, too naive

But no

Love is how we defeat evil
Imagine saying “the sin of empathy”, the “wrongness of kindness”, the “mistake of love”, these dipshits are fucking Captain Planet villains. Demonic energy.

everyone, if they live longer enough, will become disabled. it's a fact of life! you will eventually need a mobility aid. yes, YOU.
If I wasn't tired I'd be screaming this from a rooftop somewhere.

Also, the *goal* is to become disabled. Like eventually should we be lucky enough to not die, EVERYONE will be disabled, no matter what. So maybe invest in your oen future? Give a lil care for future you, if not for others?

I post lots about alt text as disability justice. You should use it on all images and enable the “require alt text” setting.

But if your username uses a fancy font, is full of emojis, or has other tedium for screen readers, all your posts are inaccessible, even if you use alt text.

Listen to it:

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs.

However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

If you're walking around unmasked, you're being bad coworkers.

You're hitting reply all to mass emails.

You're microwaving fish in the breakroom.

You're talking over people in meetings.

You're taking full credit for the group project you didn't help on.

You're eating other folks' lunches.

Sometimes it strikes me how a number of traditional recipes are really just the codification of making use of everything you possibly could because life was hard. Bones to flavor soups or stews. Vegetable stock was a way to make use of stuff starting to turn. These are the food versions of quilts.

The greatest demoralizing force in any activist movement isn't the opponents you're fighting. It's the asshole allegedly on your side who shows up every time two people are enjoying something that is not The Cause to scream at them.

This is good. And people need to stop saying “oh this won’t help anything, because he’ll just do that OTHER bad thing instead.” Nope, that’s obeying-in-advance talk. All decent people need to refuse to do what fascism asks of them, even if it won’t single-handedly end this regime
Latest: Mexico denied a U.S. military plane access to land Thursday, at least temporarily frustrating the Trump administration's plans to deport immigrants to the country, according to two U.S defense officials.
Mexico refuses to accept a U.S. deportation flight
The Mexican government has criticized President Donald Trump's unilateral immigration actions, and the landing would have required Mexico's assistance.

Seconding all of this.

I have a math degree. I'm terrible with numbers. It is a running joke how bad folks doing higher-level math are at numbers. My professors would frequently just sort of stop and go "Okay, well, the numbers are all wrong, but this is right".

Numeric speed != math.
This was generated as an auto-complete meme, but for real:

As a society, we have defined "good at math" as being able to manipulate numbers quickly. Kids are rewarded or punished in school based on this.

But that's not math. Math is thinking creatively about logical ideas. And everyone can do it.
Don't let society convince you that you’re not good at math.

I recently saw an amazing Navajo rug at the National Gallery of Art. It looks abstract at first, but it is a detailed representation of the Intel Pentium processor. Called "Replica of a Chip", it was created in 1994 by Marilou Schultz, a Navajo/Diné weaver and math teacher. 1/n

It's based on what I'm doing personally. So, fyi, I'm more anxious than usual, but holding up substantially.
